Revealing the agendas of Al-Sudani’s visit to Washington.. Minister of Defense: We will reach a point of agreement regarding the withdrawal of the coalition

{Politics: Al-Furat News} Defense Minister Thabet Al-Abbasi revealed, today, Tuesday, the agendas of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani’s visit to Washington, pointing out that cooperation with the countries of the international coalition against ISIS and regarding “NATO” after the withdrawal will be on intelligence work.

The Iraqi Minister of Defense said in a televised statement, “Discussions are continuing to take the decision to withdraw the international coalition from Iraq gradually and thoughtfully.”

Al-Abbasi stressed that “cooperation with the countries of the international coalition against ISIS and with NATO after the withdrawal will be “on intelligence work.”

He also stressed, "The file of the international coalition's withdrawal from Iraq will be a top priority during the visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani to Washington next April," adding that "Washington is thinking about the method and timing of withdrawal, and we will reach a point of agreement on the issue."

The Minister of Defense also revealed an agreement with Washington to separate the Iraqi arena from the Syrian arena with regard to the American presence.

He continued: "The Syrian arena may need the American presence, according to the Americans' point of view."

In another context, Al-Abbasi said that there is no agreement with Turkey on joint operations against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which Ankara considers a terrorist and launches raids from time to time on its strongholds in northern Iraq.

He also considered that "if the Turkish side feels the seriousness and effectiveness of the Iraqi forces on the border, it will not remain in Iraq."

On the other hand, he stressed that "the Iraqi constitution does not allow the involvement of security institutions in politics," and he also said that "the Prime Minister is interested in the issue of rehabilitating the Iraqi army's infrastructure."
