Hossein Shariatmadari, editor-in-chief of the Iranian newspaper "Kayhan" affiliated with the office of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, said that there is a need to close the Strait of Hormuz to Korean ships by Iran.  

 

  

  

Shariatmadari explained in an article he wrote in the newspaper, "Iran should not succumb to economic pressures and sign a deal to release 3 spies in exchange for the release of Iranian funds frozen in South Korea, and in return stressed the need for Iran to adopt a confrontational method by closing the Strait of Hormuz to Korean ships and all The ships that shipped their goods from South Korea, and this is a legal and legitimate right of Iran.”  

  

And the newspaper added: “Countries like South Korea must know that their actions will not remain unanswered,” explaining that the newspaper, 8 years ago, called in an article for the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and said: “When it is decided to deprive Iran of exporting its oil, it does not make sense to be Other countries are able to export and sell their oil."  

  

The newspaper pointed out that "the Strait of Hormuz is the world's most oil-exporting straits, as nearly 18 million barrels of oil pass through it daily, which is equivalent to 42 percent of the oil traded in the world daily. Iran has the right to close the Strait of Hormuz to all commercial and military vessels if its national interests are harmed."
