Shafaq News/ The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan announced, on Thursday, that it had reached "unified positions" with the Kurdistan Democratic Party on issues related to the files of the federal government.

 

Stran Abdullah, the National Union media official, said in a press statement regarding the latest meetings held with the Democratic Party, which was received by Shafak News Agency, that the two parties (the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party) are ready to work together in the next stage on the basis of the principles they agreed upon in the last meeting. his contract."

 

He pointed out that "the committees that the two parties will form can reach common points, so that the Kurdish position in Baghdad is unified," noting that "the step is very good, given the estrangement that occurred in the last period."

 

And on the differences of the National Democratic Union, regarding the Electoral Commission and the constitution in the Kurdistan Region, the statement stressed that "there are different visions of the constitution and the Electoral Commission," explaining that "that commission will become a center for the upcoming elections."

 

He pointed out that "the two parties are ready to contest those elections," ruling out that "the Commission constitutes an obstacle in the way of reaching common points."

 

And he indicated that "today there is a will to resolve these divergent visions, and the two parties can find common points between them, for the commission and for the constitution as well."

 

The statement denied reports that the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan had objected to holding the elections in Kurdistan on time, and said: "The Patriotic Union, as a well-established principle in it, has never feared the elections and had no problem with them, and always accepted the results of the elections, and therefore we are ready for it whenever it takes place. Determine the date for it.

 

In his statement, Stran Abdullah also denied that his party had fought in the last meeting that included the two parties in the presidency and other positions in Baghdad. agreed upon by the two parties, will pave the way for Kurdistan’s entitlements, including the presidency.”

 

He continued: "The insistence of the National Union on the presidency of the republic does not mean that the issue will turn into a dispute between the Union and the Democratic Party, but rather it will be a fertile material for agreement between them."

An advisor to the Kurdish leader, Massoud Barzani, said today, Thursday, that the political agreement to form the next federal government should lead to the building of a true federal state in which the distribution of powers and revenues is firmly established in accordance with the Iraqi constitution.

Masoud Haidar, wrote in a tweet on his Twitter account, seen by (Basnews), that "the political agreement to form the next government must lead to the building of a true multi-regional federal state based on the pillars of partnership, consensus and balance, and in which the distribution of powers and revenues is firmly established in accordance with the Iraqi constitution." .

Pointing out that it should be "a government that is inclusive and fair to all Iraqis and addresses the security, economic and service files."

Counselor Masoud Haider's tweet came hours after  the Kurdish leader received a high-level delegation from the "Coordination Framework"

headed by the leader of the State of Law coalition and former Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, where the two sides discussed the results of the October 10 elections, and the ongoing dialogues to form the new federal government.

A statement from the Kurdish leader’s office, yesterday, Wednesday, a copy of which was seen by (Basniuz), had indicated that “the meeting discussed the results of the parliamentary elections that took place last October and the latest developments in the Iraqi political process.”

Pointing out that "the meeting stressed the need to review governance in Iraq and benefit from past experiences and consider the principles of partnership, consensus and balance."

ERBIL — Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani, the President of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), on Wednesday received a delegation of the Shia Coordination Framework led by Nouri Al-Maliki, in Erbil. 

The meeting mainly focused on the Iraqi parliamentary election held on October 10, and the political developments following the vote. 

“During the meeting, the need for reconsidering the ruling system in Iraq while learning from the past experiences was stressed,” according to a press release by the Barzani Headquarters. 

The importance of the principles of true partnership, consensus, and balance was also emphasized by Barzani and the guests, the press release added.

The sides also agreed that efforts should continue in hopes of bringing the political factions closer to help the political process in Iraq overcome the current and future challenges. 

The ongoing threat of terrorism, as well as environmental challenges created by the worsening drought, were also on the agenda of the meeting.
