Plasschaert renews its suppor t for Iraq and strengthens its institutions

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Jeanine Hennes Blashardt, renewed her support for Iraq and strengthening the work of its institutions.

A statement from the office of the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, stated that the latter "received, at Baghdad Palace, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jenin Hennes Blashardt."

During the meeting, the President of the Republic stressed "the importance of the organization’s role and its efforts in supporting the democratic process in the country, especially in the current circumstance in which Iraq seeks to hold early elections in the coming period, indicating that the Iraqis are looking forward to a new phase dominated by security, stability and prosperity."

In turn, Plasschaert renewed "the international organization's support for Iraq and the strengthening of the work of its institutions, and its continued provision of advice and assistance in a way that achieves the aspirations and hopes of the Iraqis in various fields."

The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received, on Tuesday, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jeanine Hennes Plasschaert.  

A statement of the Presidency of the Republic, a copy of which was received by "People," (September 1, 2020) stated, "The President of the Republic stressed during the meeting the importance of the organization’s role and its efforts in supporting the democratic process in the country, especially in the current situation in which Iraq is seeking to hold early elections in the country. The coming period, "noting that" the Iraqis are looking forward to a new phase dominated by security, stability and prosperity. "  

The statement added, "In turn, Plasschaert renewed the support of the international organization for Iraq and strengthened the work of its institutions, and continued to provide advice and assistance to achieve the Iraqis' aspirations and hopes in various fields."
