rockfl9
A banks assets include (mostly ) the loans it has on the books. Those are moneys DUE . 235T dinar backed by 0nly 9T in capital. IS NOT really very good. Some of those loans WILL default. A defaulted loan reduces capital. Also the GOI getting IMF loans is not a good thing either. Imf loans are made in SDRs AND will be repaid in SDRs with interest. It is an action of last resort for Iraq. They need the money NOW and are mortgaging the future. 2

rockfl9
Don't know why my last got duplicated,!! It looks like the banking reform really means to have them get more capital... I remember last year that a Basra bank was in trouble as people were not paying off their loans. 1
