GT ACE
JFK once inspired the world when he said "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country"! I believe that inspirational saying should now be changed to: Ask what your country can do for you, as you have done so much for the country! As we are close to the realization of this exciting money making opportunity, we now scramble to find ways to keep our disfunctional government from robbing us blind of our nest eggs and our right to the pursuit of happiness. We have become the most letigious nation on earth and now we find ourselves lining up attorneys, CPA's and other professionals to protect us from a government that is supposed to work for us!!! I personally feel cheated, disappointed and very bitter that our unscrupulous deviant politicians will take from our work weary hands, much of our gains, and squander it on unwinable wars, illegal immigrants and a plethora of misguided farces. What basis do I have to ask something of my country? What right do I claim the right to the pursuit of happiness? Many of our family histories vary as to how we came to be here in this country and while we, as American citizens all share the same rights, some of our families have been here since the pilgrams and have contributed to this country from the begining. My family traces back to the likes of John Henry, president Madisons wife and General William Tecumseh Sherman. My family has given our blood to the American revolution, the civil war, WWI, WWII and the Korean war. We traveled west in covered wagons to homestead and build the west as ranchers, sherifs, farmers, game wardens and law abiding citizens. While I feel all of us deserve a break, by virtue of sacrifice and allegiance, I feel many of us have invested a great deal in this country and should be honored by our goverment for all that we have given already!Step up to the plate fellow investors and let the battle begin! zoomzoom
I'm an immigrant from Canada. I came here because of the Constitution. I see now that a relatively small group of people have thwarted the principles espoused in the Constitution. The controlling atmosphere in Canada and most of Europe is what we have to look for if we don't stand up to those that would shackle us. Unfortunately we are well on our way. We have been made beholding to those that would serve us.
mortypop
It amazes me how often so many claim patriotism and show little support to their government. All the way from the begining of this glorious country. The civil war, JFK and the civil rights movement to today. Every president, administration has been critisized. People I know put down government programs and are yet at the same using these programs, from welfare to medicaid, to social security, to workmans compansation for injuries. If you make a million dollars and lose half to taxes, you still have half a million dollars. Count our blessings. Be grateful we live in this beautiful country. Its this kind of acceptance that ends up diminishing each of our freedoms over time. No, no government or individual has the right to confiscate what I have worked for, no matter the size of my profit. The blessings that I count, are the ones allowing me the right to express my opinions, at least that's the way it is for the moment. Who knows where we will go from here. Jac
Feel free to pay my portion.First of all taxes are not even legal according to the Constitution. Anyone remember the Boston Tea Party and why we dumped the Tea?????Then a President comes along (not mentioning names after all lets keep this bipartisan) and decides taxing the people is the way to fix the problem. No one seems to remember how Lincoln brought the entire country out of bankruptcy without taxation. Where are you Abe when we need you most?
