I will be back in iraq on Wednesday as its a 15 hour flight and a day lost returning. Once I get there I will tag some of the locals I work with and see where we are. The elections are always a joke as Al Sadr keeps things stirred up. Give me at least until mid week of the 3rd or 4th. I will try to post something that may give you an idea with the elections and direction they are heading next. Cheers

Davis411, I too wish and hope I'm wrong but having boots on ground and doing what I do I'm not at liberty to explain my position but being there and how the Iraqis conduct not only their business but day to day lives they are quite not responsible or respectful of anyone. As long as they are conducting their horrific corruption and rolling g in god awful money they will never get anything done. Sorry for that brutal truth but I have absolutely no faith in the Iraqi government to do the right thing. Maybe you heard about the rioting in Basra, well because they have NO POWER OR RUNNING water they are fed up with it. The small village where I'm at also has none of the basic necessities. They are afraid of the government's goons so they mostly keep quiet. Like I said, I will try to keep things in perspective as I hear it and post only the truth. It may get me banned because it could bite into someone's extra revenue but I will give you what I can with no smoke and mirrors. Cheers all

Ok to help everyone out, I currently work in iraq as a contractor and have off and on over the past 9 years. Here is the skinny....NOTHING is going on in Iraq. They as always continue to argue amongst themselves as they always will. As a contractor quite close to the government I will not blow smoke but a likely RV anytime in the next 5 years is not likely. Just my opinion but they can Never seem to come up with any sort of agreement. The corruption runs so high throughout the country that none of them want to give up anything. So to let you know my wife and I have been investors in the dinar for over 10 years but refuse to hold our breath. I'm currently home on R&R and will be returning to iraq on the 24th. With that being said please use caution listening to people who say it's gonna happen soon because it's not. I have my ear to the ground every day and work with ALOT of locals. They want US dollars only because they know their money is worth squat even in iraq. Please understand I'm not trying to bust anyone's bubble I just urge you with caution in purchasing any more dinar at this time. I will try to keep anyone that is interested updated as soon as I hear anything. Sorry for the long winded but you have a right to know the truth..... If you don't like what I have to say then feel free to block me and if that the case then so much for spending the money on the VIP Package like my wife and l have long ago..... Some of this i believe but some I do not. I was in Kuwait during the invasion and I saw first hand the destruction to the oil infrastructor. Almost all of the oil pipe lines and wells were on fire and or destroyed. This was not something that was repaired over night by any means. 2 countries with 2 different situations. Anything is possible. Iraq does need to let things go and do the right thing for the people of Iraq. I will not speculate what will happen but Iraq is not kuwait and middle eastern culture is to hold a grudge for decades. We all need to learn to have patients and keep the faith. Hang in there, it will happen when they are ready to let go. God Speed all Aim High....

Before I retired in 2005, I asked that same question of my finance department, I was told that it would be manditory discharge at $500,000 or more. I asked why manditory, I was told because of attitide. The military did not want to deal with attitude, drop in performance, discipline issues or desertion from the member. Now if that still hold true,I do not know but that was in 05. Hope this helps Aim High.......

Wow, I am really amazed how many people can not read or comprehend. I never set a rate or date. I never insinuated it was going to be announced on the 25th nor did I say the RV was going to be $3.45. I stated that the Warka employee said IF the people wanted to buy IQD, they would be charged $3,45 to 1 IQD. I also stated that there was going to be a big announcement on the 25th. I did not say it was THE announcement. So read into it what you will. My mother never raised a quiter but I think I will reserve the information I receive for my close friends and family. For the rest of you on DV that have the ability to comprehend and understand what a rumor is. Hang in there and it will happen when it's time. Good luck to all, even you doubters.... Hey all, I cringe at the thought of posting this but it is here in the rumor section. I am here in the lovely sand box just north of Baghdad. Have been for 6 years now. I deal with numerous departments and nationalities all the time but last week I spoke to some personnel (US Citizens) that arrived from a site called JBB. These individuals are invested and invested quite well. Two of these individuals informed me that the Warka Bank on that site was not allowing the customers to accesss their accounts, purchase any more dinar, or withdraw / deposit any dinar or US currency. Well today 22 Jan 11, I was informed by these same 2 Expats that Warka will now allow them access to their accounts, but still will not allow any withdraws / deposits. I was also informed that they now can buy the new IQD, BUT at 1 dinar to $3.45. I did not say it the other way around, the bank employee told these 2 Expats that if they wanted to buy dinar, they would pay $3.45 US for 1 IQD. The Expats also said the employee informed them that there was going to be a big announcement on the 25th of Jan. (24th in the US). Take it for what it is and that it's a rumor that was relayed to me. Let's keep our fingers crossed. I have a beautiful wife waiting for me at home. It's not so much WHAT you say, it's HOW you say it.....

People, here is my directors take on this: Annnnnndd....Cut! Most of us have been at this for some time and i'm willing to bet that at least 99% of us are over the age of 21. Not that a lot act like it but my advise or recommendation is this: Step away from the computer, take a deep breath, count to 10 and relax. Bashing does nothing but get things stirred up and nothing accomplished. No one has told you to come here every day and read what people post. Believe me, it takes more energy to get your B@lls in an uproar and start the bashing than it does to laugh it off. If you are allowing yourself to hang on every word, post, or chat that some of the people on here post, that is no ones fault but your own. Remember, we are all adults. Some with more education than others but that should bave no bearing on this investment. We all know the US government doesn't tell its people much of anything and the Iraqi government divulges even less...The GoI (Government of Iraq) does not put stuff out on the news, radio, or Texts its people. There are VERY few who KNOW when or what the rate is going to be. Let's look at it from a Christmas point of view; it's better to be surprised on that morning with what you receive than about how much. Let's ALL just sit back, take these posts, rumors, and what ever is thrown at us with a grain of salt and wait to see what 2011 will bring us in the area of an RV. By the way, I am boots on ground and have been now for 6 years. Rumors are just that, Rumors. This information is NOT flying all over the streets of Baghdad or any other area of Iraq.
