  1. Lightfighter that's just your experience with that local not all locals are the same it isn't fair to label all unions in a negative light in local 103 in Wyoming I had similiar issues with dues and training but when u go to meetings u vote for changes so next time u don't have to come out of pocket for training dues are usually higher when membership is lower in Montana it was 85 a month because there are only 650 members in Massachusetts I pay 35 a month because membership is 1800 and yes benefits are a blessing not a right but you have to negotiate were they are allocated health care annuity pension or in the envelope etc...
  2. Davis Bacon or prevailing wage jobs are required to pay u because they are federally funded so even if the jobs are outsourced to Mississippi or lousiana workers they still get the prevailing wage or should be what the non union company does is takes the federal money and pays there workers 14.50 an hour and puts 30 an hour in there pocket at the expense of washington state tax payers which is illegal but if they had hired locally then the money would have benefited the local workers I worked at Idaho national laboratories last summer for a non union company out of California I was paid prevailing wage 26.60 an hour the foreman on the job was only paid 15 when I told him he was suppose to make 26.60 he called the owner of his company and complanied and they had to pay him the back wages so I know it can happen and that I find greedy
  3. To chris we negotiate contracts for wage increases with shops and building trades every 4 or 5 years and usually when the economy is in the toilet we take pay cuts or the work force gets reduced so I have to find other work such as changing oil for 7.50 an hour or painting I understand peoples hate for union labor but without it u wouldn't have the 40 hour work week paid holidays or time and a half on weekends or overtime maybe we should go back to sweat shops for kids and 16 hour days at 3 dollars an hour
  4. U don't have to agree that union labor is always better because its not but your right the lowest bid gets the job so if the bid was say 20 million and equipment and materials were half the budget and labor was say 25% or 5 million what a non union general contractor usually does is hires cheap labor that only costs 3 million so they can make a larger profit and by doing so the quality of work will be sub par I only know this because in my trade sheetmetal I've seen first hand the quality and time it takes myself and others to do the same job as a non union company do and I'm not back at that job later fixing mistakes and I usually finish ahead of schedule but I've seen plenty of jobs were we go in and fix undersized or improperly installed heating systems done by hack non union companies I've worked in Washington,Wyoming,Montana,Idaho,Massachusetts, conneticut,Rhode island, maine, and new Hampshire and all of theses states have different wages that reflect the cost of living with Massachusetts being the highest 42.00 an hour and Idaho the least at 23.00 an hour but maybe I'm over paid and underqualified Those are usually goverment unions such as firefighters and cops making triple time to do detail work I'm in the skilled trades sheetmetal workers and the quality is better u have to do a five year apprenticeship and be licensed were a non union shop has no training and usually are unlicensed
  5. To Jon Jon by stating that I smoke drink and spark up on occasion does that somehow make me a bad person and by the way I'm not a Paul supporterand I also don't want it legalized I don't see were people get off throwing a net over every comment about weed being stupid or bad for u 60% of Americans have tried marijuana at least once and 14% smoke daily but that doesn't necessarily make all recreational users less intelligent just saying
  6. I guess they should make less so the company out of state can fill there pockets with the profits that's what happens with non union companies the employees get paid less to increase the net profit of the job if a project is bid for x amount and u can man it with cheap labor u get a cheap product at completion and eventually it cost u more to correct the problems that could have been avoided using union labor just because of greed
  7. I don't think its possible right now yes we spent a trillion on the war on drugs but if it were legal we would end up spending more on producing it, regulating it, and distribution of it and people would grow there own or buy it illegally to circumvent taxes
  8. There's a big difference romney care or mass health isn't forced on you and u don't pay a penalty for not having insurance like Obama care also u have to apply and meet requirements for mass health it isn't just given to you health care should be managed at a state to state level and people shouldn't be penalized for not having it or chosing to get private insurance
  9. I read it I liked the article about China investing in five new wells better and no country wants to destabilize after a rd I never said they would rd or lop It seems more likely they will than won't but a key difference in iraq is the USA has a hand in the outcome of iraq as a country I wouldn't be suprised if iraq slowly raises the value from 1166 to maybe 500 over another 5 years but that's just the cynic in me even with a new currency I don't see them jumping up to a dollar in a rush but who knows anything can happen but I'm practical so to me the lopsters make more sense but that's only based on the numbers were given if those aren't true then it won't matter
  10. Talk away if its about turkeys rd but your in the wrong thread if u want to talk about something off topic there's a place for that to
  11. I guess ur the unexpected inlaw who could only find a seat at the kids table
  12. He will release them when he wants he was governor in Massachusetts he didn't even take the money for serving his term he makes money and apparently that bothers some people I'm voting for the guy with experience in politics and knows how to reduce a deficit massachusetts deficit 3 billion in 2002 after first year as governor 1.5 billion not bad also he knows how to turn a profit and don't give me the outsource crap every company does it the reason no one talks about Obama not showing his returns or how he outsourced jobs is for the simple fact he never owned a business or turned a profit he is probably the least qualified president in us history
  13. I'm not a Paul supporter and I smoke cigs drink and spark up on occasion but I don't want it legalized then it would be heavily taxed if ur fortunate to live in a medical marijuana state and get a prescription good for u and as far as alcohol being ok since the dawn of man marijuana has been around longer just not regulated by the government like tobacco and alcohol it will be eventually
  14. Maybe when I said to ignore u san he listened and now u just jump to every thread in the lop section baiting people for entertainment which I find rather childish but I guess your entitled to do as u please I guess ill go read some off topic posts
  15. If at all possible I would like to get 20 mills email needed some more advice in market and investment guess a lot can happen in a work day disappointed in his removal soon everyone will be walking on egg shells
  16. All I can say is lame that's what all these threads are lately dinarck just don't respond maybe he will go bother someone in off topic posts pot calling the kettle black san how much time u spend on here enough to need two names cause u need the attention from both places u log on from
  17. Thanks 20 I will check out e trade I manage my two pensions as far as risk involved in the market half medium half low but the return hasn't been great the past few years ill check out wally weavers post and maybe put the annuity money in something he has posted I'm interested in silver but never researched it so I guess I've got some homework to do
  18. I would like to Skype but don't have it on my phone I understand the financial advice not looking for that just wanted to get suggestions from u or others on what to look into I don't mind doing my own research I was going to start a traditional savings account but it seems like a waste with the interest being not that great or maybe savings bonds just not sure were to put my money when it comes but I have till November to research or maybe we will get lucky and the dong and dinar will rv and I won't need to worry as much
  19. Well so far the thread isnt in the toilet which is a change of pace compared to recent ones I only bought 250000 dinar so I'm not heavily invested I wish I was in your position 20 but I'm not I work union labor and in massachusetts its slow but I'm optimistic depending on this years election I paint and do carpentry work to pay the bills till the sheetmetal industry picks up got any advice on different avenues for investment I closed my annuity from my local in Montana when I moved back to mass so ill have a fair amount of money come November just became a father on the 27th so I'm trying to start something for my daughter when she gets older
  20. "[We could have come here to debate the alleged impending LOP. Man, what a blast that would have been! That would have lasted one page at best". . It would have been the only page worth reading I'm not a lopster just like to be educated and a vast majority of the rvers don't bring much to the table to support how an rv is possible and if it is why do u think its going to be at least one to one I'm fine if u just have an opinion with no facts to back it but some of u seem to be drinking the kool aid and when there isn't anything that's spun to sound good or u don't have a guru like okie to prey upon u hijack a thread and just tell lopsters they are beating a dead horse and if they aren't invested then stop posting etc... And I quess since my grammar or punctuation isn't perfect then u can bash that or say I'm unintelligible or your above giving an explanation but the point is u still haven't defended or debated your position
  21. Marriage is a form of prostitution. (Ryan Rantala)
  22. I love how everyone does there homework and research means reads news about politics in iraq and listens only to the opinións of people that reassure a straight up rv when a rd is possible its speculation and if a financial advisor doesnt make millions then he isnt worth talking to i guess everyone here that believes it will rv is better suited to give black advise this site is going nowhere lately and i find myself in the lop and off topic forum more often no more okie i. rumors section so people start bashing anyone that isnt pro rv i also miss dinar thug he doesnt post as often i hope it rvs at even .05 cents but if it lops then it is what it is people need to grow up and be rational for a moment
  23. Been awhile hugh i believe it was a reinstatement not rv but either way iraq might have been able to ri like kuwait but the currency in iraq is way more and the rebound time postwar was way longer just sayin and the Internet was in its infancy
  24. I currently hold 250k i have 100k in denoms with 1 and 2 zeros what is the value of those denoms going to become after a lop of 3 zeros i know 25k note will be 25 and 10k will be 10 just curious what the others will be
