I can only wish that if we are asked to return to Iraq we "bargain" with them as they do to (for) us. How much are they willing to Pay to us to provide their training?

8-7-11 I agree with Sarah Katherine. There is a posting on site now that indicates it was posted "today". However, I read it on here Yesterday! No date changed. And even if it changes from "todday" to "yesterday" at some point, then does it show up as 2 days ago? I do not believe so. I am voting with MK - please put a date on a posting.

Now I am really confused. Who am I supposed to be angry with? The iraqi Government who does nothing for its people - they just threaten and shout, wave their arms and run about.... or... the U.S. Government who does nothing for its people - they just threaten and shout, wave their arms and run about? Mods, please put this wherever you want. Just want to vent. Am tried of our federal (at the moment) elected government! They were put into office last year to run our government, NOT to posture for re-election two years from now! [/size] Many of the men and women complaining about the laws that were made and are now causing us "wallet-break" were made by the same folks that are Still in office - i.e. they voted for many of those same bills. Now they are complaining about them being the cause of our problems. They should be working together to fix the problem, and stop blaming each other for them. If we are going to stop fraud, waste and abuse, lets stop with the House and Senate! The fraud is they were elected to do a job that they promised they would do. Stop war, create jobs, save money..... The waste is they are drawing a salary and have essentially done nothing they were elected for - like "govern". They have done nothing to ease the banking crunch, nothing about massive unemployment - while our THE USA's, infrastructure falls apart, basically nothing they were elected to do. Oh yes,, I forgot, I believe they did cut unemployment benefits - at least in my state. Abuse - when they take large salaries plus mega benefits while their constituates (yeah, I can't spell that word, for those with no imagination, it means those who elected them) barely eke out a living, that is abuse. The waste is the time they spend haggling about "stuff" that has no bearing on getting this nation back on its feet. Why are we paying them? More importantly, why do we keep re-electing them? I suggest we elect ALL new officials next fall and send them a message we are not going to continue this "public unemployment" they are now getting. Bah Humbug. Thanks all, I needed to say this!

I seem to remember that Iraq did indeed request an extension and to the best of my memory, they were denied. Don't ask f or names, dates, etc. All I have is a very senior memory.

thanks to all who answered here. For so long I have felt like a lone voice crying in the night. For several years I followed my husband as he worked around the world. When we returned to the US I was appalled to find just how far down we had gone. Seemed like in every venue. Our personal apathy was unbelievable - I call it the "don't bother me with that "stuff", just give my my beer and TV "clicker" attitude. Our business and professional ethics had all but disappeared (sorry investment firms and bankers - but that is the face you show us). We no longer really care about what happens to our neighbors. Actually, we have no problem if they get some of the good life, as long as I get mine first and get more!!. I can say this because I have lived through the World War II, and all the ensuing wars - the good times and the bad that followed. This is the worst I have seen America's standards and it breaks my heart. I just hope I can live long enough to see someone take over who really cares about people, regardless of color, money, background, etc. and at least turn us in the right direction again. Thank you for listening to my rant.
