Baghdad/ NINA/--President Jalal Talabani, called for keeping the Iraqi army away from any loyalties except loyalty to the nation and the society in its diversity of ethnic and sectarian components.

He said in a speech on the occasion of 91st anniversary of the Iraqi Army published within a presidential statement : "Our people and armed forces restore with pride feelings the anniversary of founding of valiant Iraqi army, a memory that people find in an opportunity to salute the national role and sacrifices of our dear army .”

Talabani added that at the forefront of responsibilities: “developing the capacity of training and armament, promoting technical level of our forces ,strengthen professional army and keep it free from any partisan loyalties or sectarian alignment .” / End

Seems like they are on the right track here. They must have a unified force to maintain a unified nation. I wish them luck in this endeavour - theirs being a country with at least 3 deep divides. Maybe we were there long enough to set a fine example of what a unified military looks like... Lets hope.
