k98nights Posted January 6, 2012 Report Share Posted January 6, 2012 Talabani calls to keep the army away from any loyaltical loyalty but to the nation of all its components . 06/01/2012 11:22:00 Baghdad/ NINA/--President Jalal Talabani, called for keeping the Iraqi army away from any loyalties except loyalty to the nation and the society in its diversity of ethnic and sectarian components. He said in a speech on the occasion of 91st anniversary of the Iraqi Army published within a presidential statement : "Our people and armed forces restore with pride feelings the anniversary of founding of valiant Iraqi army, a memory that people find in an opportunity to salute the national role and sacrifices of our dear army .” Talabani added that at the forefront of responsibilities: “developing the capacity of training and armament, promoting technical level of our forces ,strengthen professional army and keep it free from any partisan loyalties or sectarian alignment .” / End http://www.ninanews.com/English/News_Details.asp?ar95_VQ=FJJGDI Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I wish them luck in this endeavour - theirs being a country with at least 3 deep divides. Maybe we were there long enough to set a fine example of what a unified military looks like... Lets hope.
