k98nights Posted June 6, 2011 Report Share Posted June 6, 2011 Iraq’s Prime Minister receives UNSG’s and FAO’s Representatives in Iraq 6/6/2011 9:54 AM BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraq’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, has received at his office on Sunday, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Iraq, Ad Melkert and the Representative of the Food & Agriculture (FAO) Organization, Edward Calon, with whom he discussed FAO’s efforts and support for Iraq in the field of strengthening the Rational Card and the activation of cooperation between Iraq and the UN Organizations. A Council of Minister’s statement, copy of which was received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency, quoted Prime Minister Malilki as having confirmed in the meeting on “necessity to supply suitable food for poor families in Iraq, appreciating FAO’s humanitarian role and its services rendered in Iraq.” The statement quoted the UN Delegation as “having reiterated its readiness to present support to the Iraqi government, to enable it grant suitable food for all the people of Iraq, along with supporting the Iraqi Trade Ministry and its cadres in this respect.” SKH (IT) http://en.aswataliraq.info/Default1.aspx?page=article_page&id=142973&l=1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
