Upgradable
I was a typing teacher 30 years ago and I agree with the typing on this site. I don't think they teach typing in school anymore. They teach computers and they learn to type anyway they can to hit the keys. Back in the day, every student had to take a typing class (on manual typewriters, not electric) as a prerequisite for graduation. I was so busy with other academic courses that I didn't get to this until senior year. Interesting being a senior in a class full of freshman! However, I can't text worth a darned!!! Thumbs are for the space bar! 1

Captjohn
I'd much rather read a post about the inaccuracy of the spelling and grammar than one more post about how our President is a Socialist, Communist, non-citizen, etc. blah, blah, blah. What I find absolutely horrendous are the numerous errors that I find in ACTUAL published books that I've purchased. You would think that there are copy editors, proof readers, or someone that would catch the errors. It completely ruins a story for me if I have to stop to re-read a paragraph because the errors threw off the story line. I read probably 2-3 books a week, and I don't believe there has been one book I've read in the past 5 years that doesn't have mistakes in it. I think publishers have gotten lazy with spell-checkers on the computer and they are not reading the text any longer. Makes me sad. Could be the editors don't know and therefore don't pick up the mistakes. All this points to a dumbing-down in our educational system. The average student in China and India is becoming better educated than the students that graduate from our schools. A sad commentary on our national values.
