Oregon School for the Blind

Thank you for your post....I am sending medical supplies and school supplies to a village set up by my father-in-law...I did not invest a lot of money into the dinar, but if I have any left after the village, I would be glad to donate to the school. Are we not the luckiest people to be able to do something like this?

I agree. I was moved by the school closing, I have already placed calls to Oregon to delve into this. As I have said, To go and find property if I have not already, build the facility and leave. Plain and simple? No I think it would be nice to cover the first year finances for the school if possible too. I know I am reaching right well no more than they are.

Then I want to give back to those that brought us here. The Veterans. Yes we are the luckiest to be here. To be in this potential victory and not to give back for me would just be a kick in the pants to all who have served. The children are our future as well.

I also believe the more you give of yourself in this life, not only can we hold our heads up high while here but the better it will be after. ;) I would gladly donate that too!

Wow, I just spoke with someone in Oregon. I now have the facility, it needs some remodeling, there is medical on staff, there are music instruments, (Some) there is a cafeteria, maintenance dept. there are classrooms, .............Just everything.

Almost...No students. :(

There was a great warm welcome to this potential. I promised nothing but inquired and gave my word that I would do everything within my power to bring this to fruition. There was a bit of phone tag but it was answered immediately on both ends. The biggest struggle at first will be to as I said.......

1. Remodel or add to one area for the dorms.

2. Bring in the teachers for the blind students.

3. Additional materials for the students and teachers.

4. Salary's for the first few years to show the state success.

5. There is a great need for this and I will be receiving a call from one of the state politicians on Thursday.

( in regards to this new school for the blind.)

6. So there is that struggle which is out of our hands but that being said we need to bring this as best we can.

I can not even to begin to remember everything we just covered but they will be getting back to me on Thursday as well with the list of needs to make this work. This person I spoke with is a state employee that actually handles all of this and has been trying to make something like this work with no success financially.

Should we do this all we need is the finances. They have everything including the contractors to complete it.

I know I am being somewhat vague but when this RV's I promise you this. You keep in contact with me both now and right after the RV I will send all of you in contact on this project all the details and the contact. You can then know comfortably who you are sending the money straight too and bypass me completely.

I am doing the legwork now and so are they. It will be done in a few days. Their people are putting it all together. I will be able to list the amount for the school and from there all I need from you to me is the pledge.

(to reach the amount)

This is wonderful and literally ten times easier then I thought.

Then you can get with me direct on the Veterans project. I hope you all do help with both of these.

One last note. When I told them I was working with a wonderful group of investors that I was trying to raise the donations from they said, well if you make this work then we could all go to the facility to officially open it should we choose.

Project one completed if we can do the finance. This state employee has everything else in place except the funds.

Thank you all.;) God Bless.

PS can you tell I am just a little excited? lol :D

i know two republican state reps, and two state senators. I worked multiple campaigns, and had a blast doing it. They will support having a charter type school set up. One problem, and It's a bog one: an accountant screwed up and we discovered that we have a 3.3 Billion shortfall next year. Billion. With a b. On a low population state. I have said that the state will be lucky to have a band at any school in the state. It's going to suck, but its better to know the problem up front than get hit after you're all in.

I appreciate this and I am sure I have a name or two in common of whom is already contacted on this matter. ;)

What I feel is a shame is that "To cut you need a knife" and in Iraq the knife was our troops. Without that knife not one of us would be in the potential wealth we are today. How about a thank you, even of 1%? of your cash in. It is a tax deduction. you will receive a receipt from it. You can always pay by check and have your own receipt. You will also receive my Federal Tax ID numbers at that time too.

The kids are our future and children with disabilities such as blind or even deaf for that matter most often have no mental handicaps. Not true on all occasions but with that being said too it may be one of these children we help that does something great in this life. Could create some new energy device, become something or someone great in many things. I had a neighbor that was blind and worked for NASA. Did a lot of computer repair as well. He used his hands to trace panels using low amperage and is a engineer. Remembers everything.

I actually have a couple of emails from a few folks that have said, here so you can contact me when this is done. I have them saved and thank you for that. I have spoken to a few on the phone too. You few people know who you are. :D

People I have my own dinar, I will have a couple of acres adjacent to the Veterans Farm. This is not for me, it is for them.

I thank you for those who have replied and committed to this with me. I respect that. That list of mine is very short ;)

Thank you.

Worthy and inspiring, RiverStyx. Thanks for letting us know about these programs. You said you'll work with the VA first - do you mean giving the VA money, also?

I am a veteran also, I was referring to working with the VA on this program to be sure if falls within guide lines for the Veterans to reach/receive the maximum benefits for themselves. IE medical care, counseling, just everything I can help them receive.

I have spoken with a few people so far and even discussed an intern ship at this new place for social workers. The VA if you look requires a minimum of one year for a social worker to work at the VA. I propose a internship where they live and work here. They attain their one year with veterans so that way when they go to work at the VA they are much more ahead of the game.

Many different ways to go about so many different things. I feel councilors are important on some level to these veterans. So I guess the answer you are looking for is not money to the VA but working in conjunction with the VA for counselors. It is all the same thing right? About helping our veterans.

Thank you for asking.
