Baghdad (NINA) –The leading figure within the Kurdistani Alliance Mahmoud Othman assured that “Adil Abdul Mahdi an the Iraqiya Slate confirmed, at their meeting with Barzani and other Kurdish leaders, their rejection for a government formed by Nouri al-Maliki.”

Speaking to the National Iraqi News Agency, he said “These meetings did not bring in new results,” noting that “Meeting of the blocs’ leaders will settle the issue.”

Othman renewed the Kurdistani Alliance’s stance towards not supporting any candidate yet.

“Based on results of the meeting to be held by the Blocs’ leaders, the KA will hold a meeting to decide which candidate it will support for the Premier post,” according to Othman.

Representatives of the political blocs will meet in Baghdad to discuss the process of forming next government, while the leaders of the blocs are scheduled to meet next week in Erbil. /End/

27/10/2010 15:31:00

Baghdad (NINA) –Member of the Iraqi National Alliance Jalal al-Din al-Sagheir of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council pointed out that “The issue of the Premier post is not essential for the SIIC, although we believe that Adil Abdu Mahdi is eventually the only alternative for te PM post.”

He stated to the National Iraqi News Agency “The SIIC is concerned with the governmental program of the candidate as well as other political factors rather than the candidate himself.”

“We should also notice that the political situation prefers a settlement candidate, so I believe that Dr. Adil Abdul Mahdi is the only option for the PM post among the leaders of the blocs,” he added.

Sagheir admitted that “Iraq witnesses many political crises,” noting that “Yet; we have not concerns since these crises will be settled for the benefit of the Iraqi citizens.”

The National Coalition which comprises both the State of Law’s Coalition and the Iraqi National Alliance has announced on October 1st nominating the Nouri al-Maliki a its candidate for the PM post with absence of the SIIC and Fadhila Party.

Maliki’s nomination faces rejection of some blocs, especially the Iraqiya Slate which has 91 seats in parliament as well as the SIIC which has 20 seats in parliament.

Some members of the IS have assured that they support nomination of the SIIC leader Adil Abdul Mahdi for the PM post, while the IS officially rejects Maliki’s nomination for a second term. /End/
