Shafaq News / US President Joe Biden committed a new slip of the tongue, when he wanted to talk about a project in Congress to finance Ukraine, only to make a mistake and announce a project to finance the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

 

Biden spoke to reporters while leaving his motorcade, and was confused by facts and called on Congress to pass legislation to fund NATO.

Under the $95 billion aid package that the president spoke about, $61 billion of this package will be sent to Ukraine, while the funding will be in the form of military equipment.

 

In addition to Ukraine, the United States will send foreign and humanitarian aid to Israel, Gaza, and its allies in the Indo-Pacific region, including Taiwan.

 

Biden said, "The idea that we will allow NATO to begin to divide is completely inconsistent with the idea of the United States of America," noting that "what was sent all the way back to Eisenhower contradicts our word and the forces that we sent."

 

The US President added, "Therefore, it is time for Congress to return home and pass legislation to fund NATO," considering it "a matter of great importance."

 

Through this statement, it appears that the president confused NATO and Ukraine, while this new lapse came after a week full of missteps, amid calls from doctors for Biden to undergo a dementia test.

 

President Biden's missteps are sparking controversy on social media, especially after his comment on the Hamas movement's response to the proposed agreement to release hostages from Gaza.
