Shafaq News / European Union foreign policy official Josep Borrell warned of the repercussions of any Israeli attack on Rafah.

 

Borrell said in a post on his “X” account: “I repeat the warning issued by many European Union member states that the Israeli attack on Rafah would lead to an unspeakable humanitarian catastrophe and serious tensions with Egypt.”

 

He stressed that "resuming negotiations to free the hostages and suspending hostilities is the only way to avoid bloodshed."

 

Medics reported on Saturday that Israeli air strikes killed 17 people in the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip last night, while more than a million Palestinians are crowded in the border city, awaiting a comprehensive Israeli attack, with no place to flee to after the rest of the Strip has turned into rubble.

 

Four months after the outbreak of war in Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said that he had ordered the army to develop a plan to evacuate Rafah's residents and destroy four Hamas battalions that the office says are deployed there.

 

According to the Israeli army, the Air Force killed two Hamas members in Rafah on Saturday.

 

During previous Israeli attacks on Gaza cities, the army was ordering civilians to head south, but now there is no clear place they can go, and relief agencies warn that civilians may be killed in large numbers.
