{Politics: Al-Furat News} Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah arrived Monday evening in the capital, Baghdad, on an unannounced visit.

 

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahhaf said in a statement received by {Al-Furat News}, “Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein received Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan at Baghdad International Airport.”

{Local: Al-Furat News} Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani received, this evening, Monday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan, and his accompanying delegation.

 

A statement from his office, a copy of which {Al-Furat News} received, stated: “During the meeting, bilateral relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia and issues of common interest were discussed, as well as the latest developments on the international and regional arena.”

 

He added, "The meeting also witnessed discussion of the developments taking place in the occupied Arab territories in Palestine, and the repercussions of the events and their effects on the Palestinian people."

 

Al-Sudani affirmed "Iraq's firm position regarding the security and territorial integrity of neighboring countries, and its commitment to the principles of good neighborliness and international resolutions in this regard, as well as not allowing its territory to be used to attack any party."

The President of the Republic receives a written message from the King of Saudi Arabia

{Politics: Al-Furat News} The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received a written message from the King of Saudi Arabia, Salman Abdul Aziz.

A presidential statement, a copy of which was received by Al-Furat News, stated that Rashid received today, Wednesday, at Baghdad Palace, the Saudi ambassador to Iraq, Abdulaziz Al-Shammari.

 

According to the statement, King Salman’s message included “the Kingdom’s desire to strengthen relations between the two countries in a way that serves the common interests of the two brotherly peoples, and the importance of coordinating positions in confronting the challenges facing the region.”

During the meeting, President Rashid stressed the need to consolidate relations between Iraq and the Kingdom and expand the horizons of constructive cooperation for the benefit of both countries.

For his part, Ambassador Al-Shammari stressed the Kingdom's keenness to strengthen its relations with Iraq and support its security and stability, praising the positive developments that Iraq is witnessing in various fields.
