The Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament, Rewaz Fayek, said that they will start amending the election law for the Kurdistan region this week or early next week, in preparation for the process to take place until the end of the year.  

  

  

  

Riwas Faeq stated in statements followed by "NAS" on Monday (March 13, 2023) that she "will hold a meeting today with the leaders of the blocs and representatives of the parties, and it is a consultative meeting about the upcoming parliamentary elections."  

  

The Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament said, "The meeting will receive the views of the components on how to represent them in the law to be amended."  

  

Seven Kurdish parties agreed, on Saturday, to hold elections for the Parliament of the Kurdistan Region according to the four electoral districts system, to adopt the biometric record of the Electoral Commission in Iraq and to activate the Electoral Commission in the region.  

  

This came during a meeting held by the Elections Institution of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, (March 11, 2023), with "representatives of 5 Kurdish parties at the headquarters of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union, namely: the Change Movement, the Islamic Union, the Justice Group, the Communist Party, and the Workers' Party." And the toilers."    


The following meeting was issued:    

  

Representatives of the Kurdish political parties represented in the Kurdistan Parliament met today, Saturday 11/3/, at the headquarters of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in Sulaymaniyah, with the aim of preparing and understanding about amending the Kurdistan Parliament election law.    


During the meeting, frank discussions took place on issues related to amending the Kurdistan Parliament elections law and activating the High Electoral Commission, and the necessary decisions were taken regarding the following axes and topics:    


1- Follow the system of four electoral districts according to the governorates of the region.    


2- Approving the biometric record of the Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq, with all its requirements.    


3- Relying on the data of the Ministry of Planning in the federal government, to determine the percentage of provincial seats.    


4- Activating the High Commission for Elections and Referendum in the region.    


5- The Presidency of Parliament and the blocs will hold a meeting with representatives of the components inside and outside Parliament.

Shafaq News/ The Kurdistan Regional Government announced, on Monday, the completion of preparations for holding parliamentary elections in the region.

 

The official spokesman for the government, Jutiar Adel, said in a statement received by Shafaq News agency, "We, as the Kurdistan Regional Government, have prepared everything in terms of preparations for the parliamentary elections."

 

 

He added, "Preparations have been made from a financial and security point of view, and a positive atmosphere has been provided for holding the elections," stressing, "Readiness to support this process and provide all logistical and financial needs, and these are very important duties and a priority for the government's work."

 

And seven Kurdish parties announced, the day before yesterday, Saturday, the agreement to hold the Kurdistan Parliament elections according to the constituency system, to adopt the biometric record of the Electoral Commission in Iraq, and to activate the Electoral Commission in the region.

 

Seven Kurdish parties said in a joint statement received by Shafaq News agency; A meeting held by the elections institution of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, with representatives of five Kurdish parties at the headquarters of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, which are the Movement for Change, the Kurdistan Islamic Union, the Kurdistan Justice Group, the Kurdistan Communist Party, the Kurdistan Workers and Toilers Party represented in Parliament Kurdistan, today, Saturday 11/3/, with the aim of preparing and understanding about amending the Kurdistan Parliament elections law.

 

The official of the Sulaymaniyah-Halabja Organization Office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Ali Hussein, stated that the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, will set a date for the legislative elections in the region, after meetings and meetings that he will hold with the Kurdish political forces and parties.
