Acting Finance Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar revealed, on Saturday, a “theft” estimated at two and a half billion dollars in tax funds in the Rafidain State Bank.

Abdul-Jabbar, who is currently the Minister of Oil, wrote in a tweet on his Twitter account, "The Prime Minister graciously agreed to our request regarding the exemption from the duties of the acting Ministry of Finance."

He pointed out, "The results of the investigation that we directed after we were assigned to the ministry, and the official evidence of the theft of an amount of 3.7 trillion Iraqi dinars (2.5 billion dollars) in tax funds / Rafidain Bank by a specific group."

Abdul-Jabbar added that "it was handed over by the Ministry of Finance to the competent authorities, including the Parliamentary Finance Committee, which asked us to do so officially and in the media."

He added, "We did not submit to any pressure or bargaining to prevent us from performing our role in protecting public money."

Al-Maliki’s bloc demands the opening of an “urgent” investigation into the case of “great national treason”

The head of the bloc, Atwan Al-Atwani, said, in a statement received by “Nass” (October 16, 2022), that “the scandal of stealing billions of tax deposits at the Rafidain Bank represents a major national betrayal, and expresses the extent of the recklessness and insolence of the corruption mafia that controls the caretaker government and its officials rushed to steal money.” The year is unchecked."

The Parliamentary Integrity Committee intends on Sunday to hold an extraordinary meeting to follow up on the reasons for the loss of trillions of tax secretariats.  

 

  

  

And the Parliament’s media department stated, in a statement that “Nass” received a copy of it (October 16, 2022), “The Parliamentary Integrity Committee will hold an extraordinary meeting next Wednesday, in which it will summon the Acting Minister of Finance, the exempt Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar, the former and current Deputy Minister of Finance and Director General of the Tax Authority, And the Director General of Al-Rafidain Bank, as well as hosting the head of the Integrity Commission and all concerned and responsible authorities, to verify the reasons for the loss of an amount of 3.7 trillion Iraqi dinars from the General Authority for Taxes trust account in the Rafidain Bank.  

  

According to the statement, "The committee will announce the results of the summons and hosting to the public immediately after the meeting, and it will continue to monitor all investigation procedures."

Al-Kazemi issues a statement regarding the money withdrawn from the Tax Authority in the Ministry of Finance

On Sunday, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi issued a statement regarding the funds withdrawn from the Tax Authority in the Ministry of Finance.  

  

Al-Kazemi said in a statement, of which “Nass” received a copy, (October 16, 2022), that “the issue of funds withdrawn from the Tax Authority in the Ministry of Finance calls for standing up to the climates that helped spread corruption in the joints of that body, and participated in providing cover for abuse. on public money, and it exceeds the life of this government.”  

  

He added, "My government had previously discovered this breach based on data and indicators indicating it, so it hastened to open investigations, to move forward with the necessary legal procedures, and in cooperation with the judiciary, and all evidence and documents have been handed over to the judiciary for months, which in turn is proceeding with high professionalism and calmness away from the language of language." He continued, "The judiciary hastened to issue orders to stop the disbursement of funds, and to issue arrest warrants against the suspects, and the government's measures have prevented the draining of other funds from the authority and from other places."

Al-Sari said in a press conference held inside the parliament building, attended by the {Euphrates News} correspondent: “The tax and customs secretariats are included in different accounts and the need to open the investigation again and expand the audits to include customs secretariats that are no less important and the size of their amounts than the tax secretariats.”
He pointed out that "he approached the Central Bank of Iraq to give figures and tables of the size of the amounts collected in the accounts of the customs trusts."
Al-Sari called on the supervisory authorities, the public prosecution and the judiciary, to "take their real role in investigating the stolen money."

New and important details about the theft of tax secretaries
  
{Politics: Al Furat News} A member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Ahmed Al-Rubaie, revealed today, Monday, new details about the theft of tax deposits.
 

Al-Rubaie told Al-Furat News that: "A file of theft of nearly 3.7 trillion Iraqi dinars, from the Secretariat of the Tax Authority, is an open and open crime and it cannot be stopped in any way."
He added, "The information of the case reached the Parliamentary Integrity Committee in particular, as well as its access to Parliamentary Finance through the Ministry of Finance."
Al-Rubaie continued, "Reports indicated that 5 newly registered companies withdrew the total amount, which is equivalent to 2.5 billion dollars, during a period of months, at an average of 8 million dollars per day."
 And he indicated, "There are many parties involved in this case, and we will have multiple meetings and hosts in this regard, and the files will be referred and followed up by the Integrity and Judicial Authority."
And the Minister of Finance, Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Agency, had revealed that there was a theft of money in the Ministry of Finance, with no less than 800 million dollars in a specific account in the Rafidain Bank, which was withdrawn in violation of the law.
In the same regard, Faleh Al-Sari, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee and head of the National Forces Alliance bloc, called on the Ministry of Finance to reveal the personalities involved in the loss of more than 800 million dollars.
Yesterday, Sunday, Al-Sari revealed secrets about the theft of tax deposits, including 3 trillion and 701 billion dinars, while announcing the identity of those involved.
He clarified what happened that the sums that were collected through 5 foreign fake companies established in 2021 and demanded the return of the trust funds, knowing that they did not record any trust amount with the General Authority for Taxes, but rather by agreement of officials starting from the rank of general manager to the financial department to the assistant financial department to those authorized in the exchange process .
Al-Sari indicated that a large part of the amount of 3 trillion and 701 billion dinars is still inside the country in the form of real estate in Al-Mansour and Al-Harithiya.
