yota691
A former member of the Anti-Corruption Council: 10,000 suspended projects and political corruption is behind their suspension Time: 12/09/2021 21:28:38 Reading: 1,053 times {Politics: Al Furat News} The former member of the Supreme Council for Combating Corruption, Saeed Yassin Moussa, announced on Thursday that there are 10,000 stalled projects in the country. Moussa told Al-Furat News that: "The amount of smuggled funds, according to the Presidency of the Republic, is 150 billion dollars, and the amount is much greater than this, and suspicions are hovering over the investment budget and part of the operating budget." He added, "We have a defect in the referral of contracts, tenders and government projects, and there are 10,000 suspended projects in the country, and there are incomplete figures announced in 2019 so far, amounting to more than 360 billion dinars." Moussa attributed the reasons for this to "political corruption in disrupting projects and smuggling money, and as a result of political and administrative influence, investigations against corruption stop, and we need to activate the seizure and recover money except through agreements. In 2019, more than 12 thousand corruption cases were recorded, and as a result of this political and administrative influence, investigations stopped." . He pointed out that "the higher the pace of corruption and its suspicions, the citizen's confidence in the political system declines, and to restore it, legislation and the requirements of citizens must be approved, including what they perceive in the quality of life." With regard to the International Anti-Corruption Summit that Iraq hosted, Moussa explained, "The last money recovery conference that was held in Baghdad was one of the qualitative conferences and adopted practical outcomes and recommendations. There are bilateral agreements signed between the Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs and the Integrity Commission with other countries, and we have priority." Moussa stressed, "the need to activate the process of seizure, freezing and recovery of funds through bilateral agreements and the exchange of legal assistance with countries."
