Traconesu02 Posted June 13, 2010 Report Share Posted June 13, 2010 BOC denies curfew upon first parliamentary meeting tomorrowSunday, June 13th 2010 5:48 PM Baghdad, June 13 (AKnews) - Baghdad Operations Command (BOC) denied on Sunday imposing a curfew on Monday in Baghdad with the first session of the new Iraqi parliament, but strong security measures will be taken in some areas.A spokesman form BOC, Major General Qassim Atta, said in a press conference hold in the office of the commander in chief of the armed forces that "the security forces maintain the security and there is no need to worry, security will be normal in all areas."The new Iraqi parliament will hold its first session on Monday in its building in the heart of Baghdad, the Green Zone.However, citizens in Baghdad expressed fear of the potential armed operations during the meeting.Mohammed Hussein, 34 said "Al Qaeda is still operating in Baghdad and it is carrying out operations with modern methods. The Parliament will hold its first meeting tomorrow so we are concerned about the security situation."Hussein believed that security forces have to station many of their troops on the boulevards and intersections to prevent explosions.Meanwhile, Luay Kathem, 24, suggested that Monday should announced a holiday in all government departments and institutions in order to prevent any emergency that may accompany the first sitting of the parliament.The armed groups will try to kill the largest number of innocent citizens, Kathim said.http://www.aknews.co...knews/3/154778/ 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
