Iraq could be without a new government for some weeks to come, despite the country's Supreme Court approving the results last week.

Incumbent Prime Minister Nouri al-Malaki's mainly Shia coalition came in just behind Iyad Allawi's secular Sunni Iraqiyya alliance.

But both are well short of the 163 seats needed to form a government, and must now try to create a broad enough coalition to rule.
