luckylucy
Iraq seeks to purchase gas and petrolGulf Daily News - [5/9/2010] Iraq's State Oil Marketing Organisation (SOMO) has issued a tender for the purchase of around 675,000 tonnes of petrol and around 38,250 tonnes of gas oil, according to a statement published in a local newspaper."SOMO .. invites companies to bid for the supply of quantities of petrol and gas oil by vessels to Iraq via Khor Al Zubair terminal in Basra," it said. The period of the contract for the petrol purchase is from July 1 to December 31, while for gas oil is until September 30.SOMO is seeking delivery of 112,500 tonnes of 92-octane petrol monthly and 12,750 tonnes of 0.1pc sulphur gas oil.The petrol supply contract will start on July 1 and run through December 31, and the gas oil purchase agreement is for the period July 1 through September 30.The deadline for bid for submissions on the recent tenders is May 26.Iraq purchased 117,000 tonnes of petrol via a biannual term supply contract earlier this year at the benchmark Mediterranean price plus a $14 premium. Years of war have ravaged the country's ability to produce sufficient petrol to meet domestic demand, forcing it to purchase the motor fuel via the international spot market. http://www.iraqdirectory.com/DisplayNews.aspx?id=12435
