k98nights Posted July 2, 2013 Report Share Posted July 2, 2013 Maliki: Iraq's proven gas reserve is 112 Trillion Cubic Feet 01/07/2013 21:53:00 Baghdad (NINA) – Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said that Iraq's proven gas reserve is 112 Trillion cubic feet, ranking it the 12th in the World. In a speech at the opening of the 2nd Summit of the Gas Exporting Forum, being held in Moscow, Maliki said that Iraq's probable gas reserve is estimated to be about 170 Trillion cubic feet. He added that for the last 80 years, Iraq is been an oil exporting country; in Baghdad the on 1960 The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries was established in Baghdad. Maliki went on saying that the Iraqi Government is carrying out an ambitious program to develop Iraq's oil and gas sector, through cooperating with the World's leading companies. As a result Iraq's proven oil reserve increased up to 150 billion barrels, accompanied with an increase in the gas reserve; and gas production exceeds local consumption He added that among the Government's priorities is to take care of gas production, being a national wealth and an environmental friendly product, as well as a source for establishing strategic industries, such as petrochemical and fertilizers' industries. It's a desert and things don't grow in the desert. It kind of reminds me of a Sam Kinison skit. This is sand we have desserts in America we just don't live in them! Something to that effect.
