In a recent interview conducted with "Agence France Presse" in Geneva, said Roberto Azevedo, said that "the multilateral trading system suffered weak due to paralysis of the negotiations."

He explained that "the task is to bring the system in line with today's world, and the only way to achieve this is to encourage trade and trade liberalization بكونهما essential components of development policies."

The Brazilian, who defends criticized for taking protectionist measures considered for emerging countries in the face of the United States and the European Union through his association with India, the Group of Twenty, which includes emerging and developing countries.

Participated Azevedo, who entered the diplomatic corps in 1984, in the establishment of the coordination of the conflicts in the Brazilian Foreign Ministry in 2001, and led this body for four years, and in 2005 became head of the Economic Department at the ministry, and 2006 to 2008 he served as Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs.
