Health official shot dead in Samarra

SALAHADDIN, March 13 (AKnews) - Samarra’s health care director was shot dead by militants today, a security source said.

The source, who declined to be named, said the official was coming out of his home in Samarra city to head to work when unidentified gunmen waiting for him outside opened fire, killing him on the spot.

The gunmen fled after the attack.

The source did not give further details about the incident or the identity of the official.

Samarra city is 120km north of Baghdad.
