Well, it doesn't sound to good so far. They have really started the day out with a bang. Literally. Several. Hope it calms and is not to big of a deterrent for the voters. Keep praying.

Zimbabwe is nothing like Iraq. All you would need to do is look up Zimbabwe on wikipedia or another site and see for yourself. The place is in shambles and is even more corrupt than you could ever imagine Iraq to be. They have nothing to offer the world aside form platinum. If people are so doubtful in the dinar, then why waste your time with it? Most have faith and are here because of high hopes. If you don't believe then get out. Sell your dinar and be done with the whole ordeal. I see good things happening and an internationally recognized currency for Iraq.

The $ is still being used on base. They encourage the use of IQD when shopping with the local vendors. Most things are thru AAFES that only except $ as payment. They are trying to take the $ out of circulation in Iraq and that is why they want people to use the IQD.

I never said it was going to, I'm not a believer in the lop. A lop helps no one, not us, not the people of Iraq, not the gov't. Also, a lop does NOT devalue the currency. Instead of 1165 to 1, a 3 zero lop would make it 1.165 to 1. Get it? No one makes anything nor do they lose anything.

What a load of crap! That would mean 2 different exchange rates. One for the people in Iraq (who would get screwed), and one for people outside of Iraq ( who would makes millions). Two exchange rates can't exist for the same currency. It has to be one way or the other. A lop with them removing 3 zeros for all currency and prices(1,000 = 1), or RV with "removing" 3 zero notes from circulation(1,000 = 1,000).

There are several organizations and funds already in place. I would suggest researching these orgs first before giving to any "new" fund that would or could be set up by a member of this site. There are people out there who pray on tragedy and misfortune. Why give your money to some one you don't know. Not that anyone would, but, it has been done before. Just a thought.

What might have happened is either your fathers source is confused or your father is confused and misunderstood her. They will(have) print new lower denominations of the current IQD but not a whole new currency all together. Just a thought.
