BREAKING: Iraq launches rockets towards US military base in Syria

BREAKING: Iraq launches rockets towards US military base in Syria

Iraq has reportedly launched at least five rockets toward a US military base in northeastern Syria, according to two Iraqi security forces who informed Reuters about the matter.

The rockets were launched from the Iraqi town of Zummar, the outlet said.

This comes as tension increases in the Middle East after the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched a recent drone and missile attack on Israel amid its war with the Palestinian terrorist group, Hamas.

The White House has yet to publicly comment on the matter.

This is a breaking story and will be updated

You just did show me the money. Now, I am waiting for the money to come to me. Come on CBI , no more peek a boo , we all are grown up adult and start acting like one. And, no more playing " hide and seek "  game ( the cbi keep hiding the rate and the date , and the dinar holder has to seek and make a wild guess about the date and the rate ). Wake up CBI, How many more years are you still going to play " hide and seek " game? Aren't you tired of playing " hide and seek " game , are you CBI?

Never in a month of Sundays are any of them going to openly discuss the plan for the IQD until they are releasing the new rate and the lower denims. The very fact Al Sudani as candidly as possible spoke about it in an interview without actually saying we are going to raise the rate is as much as you will get for the time being.

  4. 4-21-2024   Newshound Guru Breitling There is inflation but it's 100% policy based inflation.  You had this currency that was worth a lot of money...What was their number one export?  Energy.  Then war came along.  You had war inflation.  But did Iraq's customer base change?  No.  Did their oil producing output change?  No, it went up.  That's where you're going to find the value.  That's where the value is coming from.  That's it.      [Post 2 of 2]

4-21-2024   Newshound Guru Breitling    LOP...people that are smart, economist, get this wrong.  The underlying definition is hyperinflation.  How do people fight it?  By removing the zeros.  Nothing wrong with that.  It's smart.  But it's hyperinflation.  People will point out incorrectly, look at Iraq...The best analysis I've read is that it [the dinar] was worth at it's height 2.25 to the U.S. dollar...Iraq has never had a customer problem.  That's where you find the hidden value in this investment.  It's not hyperinflation... [Post 1 of 2....stay tuned]

4-21-2024   Guru Nader From The Mid East  Sudani just got back home.  Let's see what decision he's going to make.  Let's see what he's going to say about his visit to United States.  Let's see if they give him full control of the government and the banks and all that stuff...I'm waiting for him on Monday come out and say, 'Okay, we have control of everything, the coalition is going to go out soon.  It's leaving soon.  We control our banks.  We have no more punishments.'  From then we see.

4-21-2024   Newshound Guru Deepwoodz   Article:   "Al-Sudani: Iraq is witnessing a new reality today in the private sector"   MOU’s and Sovereign Guarantees…impossible without sovereign currency that has purchasing power.  We’ve learned Iraq's contracts have recently been adjusted so that payment is made in dinar...If so, contracts in the billions...paid in dinar, would require assurances that the exchange rate would not move in a negative direction...It may even go so far as to give an exchange rate. If the rate were to move negatively, the foreign contractors would lose out because the value of the agreed upon amount in reflection to their home currency would also be less. That’s a no go...Sounds freakin fantastic.

CNN excludes Israeli involvement in strike on Iraqi PMF base

Shafaq News / CNN, on Saturday, ruled out any Israeli involvement in the airstrike targeting the Kalsu military base, a stronghold of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in Babil governorate.

Citing an official source from Israel, CNN stated, "Tel Aviv bears no association with the explosions witnessed in Iraq on Friday evening."

Earlier today, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) refuted swirling speculations alleging American airstrikes in Iraq, asserting,"We are aware of reports claiming that the United States conducted airstrikes in Iraq today. Those reports are not true. The United States has not conducted air strikes in Iraq today."

Echoing this sentiment, a US official confirmed to Reuters that there had been no recorded military activity by American forces in Iraq during the reported time frame of the bombing.

The incident occurred late on Friday when a massive explosion rocked a military base of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), located 50 kilometers (30 miles) south of Baghdad.

The base, known as the Kalso military base, is situated in the Al-Mashrou district along the highway north of Babil governorate. It accommodates personnel from the Iraqi Army, Federal Police, and the PMF (Hashd al-Shaabi), including its chief of staff.

Sources told Shafaq News Agency that three missiles targeted the PMF's 27th Brigade headquarters within the base, resulting in three injuries and significant material damages.

The Popular Mobilization Forces is a paramilitary organization in Iraq that was formed in 2014 to fight against ISIS following a fatwa by Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani. It initially comprised various armed forces and later integrated into the Iraqi state as an auxiliary force to the armed forces. The PMF has played a significant role in countering ISIS.

Tensions have escalated between the US and Iran-backed forces within the PMF, particularly under the umbrella of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq. This escalation follows more than 160 military attacks on US airbases in Iraq and Syria since October 7, 2023, with Iran-backed forces launching numerous attacks on US forces in the region.

In response, the United States has targeted facilities of the PMF that have resulted in casualties among PMF members, including prominent leaders such as Mushtaq Jawad Kazim al-Jawari (Abu Taqwa) of Harakat al-Nujaba, who was killed in a US airstrike in January.

BREAKING: Massive explosion leaves huge crater in Iraqi military base after suspected Israeli strike
Israel has not taken ownership of a huge missile strike on an Iraqi military position early on April 20. / CC: Government of Iraq

An explosion at a military camp in northern Babil province, Iraq, resulted in the death of a member of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and injuries to eight others, the Iraqi Security Media Cell reported on April 20. local media noted.

The blast occurred shortly after midnight at Kalso Camp, which is located along the international road and hosts units from the army, police, and the Popular Mobilization Forces which are believed to be working in league with Iran’s revolutionary guards. The blast comes 24 hours after several Iranian rockets and drones hit Iranian military positions inside the country.

"At one o'clock after midnight last night, an explosion and fire occurred inside Kalso Camp, leading to the death of a member of the Popular Mobilization Forces and injuries to eight others, including an Iraqi army member," the Cell stated in a press release.

Civil defence teams in Babil responded swiftly, preventing the fire from spreading and bringing it under control quickly.

"The civil defence teams in Babil and supporting entities made significant efforts and took swift actions that prevented the fire from spreading further and managed to control it in record time," the statement said.

To investigate the causes of the explosion and fires, a high-level technical committee comprising members from the civil defense and other relevant sectors has been established.

Further clarifying the circumstances of the incident, the Cell conveyed that, according to preliminary data and official statements, there was no indication of aerial activity or military operations in the area at the time.

"Two statements from the international coalition forces in Iraq and the official spokesperson for the Pentagon indicated that there was no aerial activity or military operation in the general area of Babil," the statement noted.

Additionally, the air defence command's technical analysis and radar checks confirmed the absence of any drones or fighter aircraft in Babil's airspace before and during the explosion.

Israel struck Iran early on April 19, retaliating Iran’s first direct attack on the country’s soil. Iran carried out a strike using around 300 missiles and drones against Israel on April 13 and 14 in retaliation for an Israeli attack on an Iranian consular building annexed to the country's embassy on April.

The PMF was initially formed as a group of armed factions, many of which had close ties to Iran. Iraqi authorities later recognised it as a formal security force. Factions within the PMF had previously participated in months of rocket and drone attacks on US forces in Iraq during Israel's Gaza campaign. However, they have ceased their attacks since early February.

:praying: When is Sudani due back in Iraq? I believe he'll wait until then to make any announcement :praying:

As far as I know he is still in the USA. I saw some report , but wasn't paying much attention , that he may head home today but Alak maybe staying another few days. So not certain. Like I said before, as long as Sudani or Alak at out with Iraq's borders they will not make any announcement. It will be done when they are both home and they will declare a 3 day holiday to celebrate

Middle East On Edge As 5 Explosions Rattle Pro-Iran Military Base In Iraq: Report

According to the CNN report, both Israel and US officials have said that neither of them was involved in the blast. On the other hand, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian reportedly said that Iran would respond at an immediate and "maximum level" if Israel acts against its interests.

The development comes after explosions were reported near the airport in Isfahan province, prompting Iran to deploy its air defence systems. Both Iran and Israel played down the incident, signalling a step to calm tensions.

Earlier, on Saturday an airstrike hit a base used by the Popular Mobilisation Forces, a Shiite Iran-backed paramilitary force based in Iraq. The development comes a day after an alleged drone attack on Isfahan city. Iran said it has no plans for immediate retaliation against Israel.

The reports quoting officials said the attack in Isfahan was meant to send a signal rather than cause damage.

However, Iran's foreign minister on Friday had said Tehran was investigating the strike on Isfahan city, adding that so far a link to Israel had not been proven. The minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, said Iran will respond at an immediate and "maximum level" if Israel acts against its interests.

Iran's Foreign Minister reportedly also said that the drones took off from inside Iran and flew for a few hundred meters before being downed. "They're... more like toys that our children play with, not drones," Amirabdollahian said.
