  1. Would You Extinguish a Smoldering Wick?

JESUS CHRIST declared the good news of God’s Kingdom to all kinds of people. Many of them were oppressed, discouraged. But Jesus gave them a heartening message. He had compassion for suffering people.

The Gospel writer Matthew highlighted Jesus’ compassion by drawing attention to a prophecy recorded by Isaiah. Quoting words fulfilled by Christ, Matthew wrote: “No bruised reed will he crush, and no smoldering flaxen wick will he extinguish, until he sends out justice with success.” (Matthew 12:20; Isaiah 42:3) What is meant by these words, and how did Jesus fulfill this prophecy?

    A Look at the Prophecy

A reed commonly grows in a wet area and is not a strong and stable plant. A “bruised reed” would be weak indeed. It therefore seems to represent oppressed or suffering people like the man with the withered hand whom Jesus healed on the Sabbath. (Matthew 12:10-14) But what about the prophetic reference to a lampwick?

A common household lamp of the first century C.E. was a small pitcherlike earthenware vessel with a loop handle. The lamp usually was filled with olive oil. By capillary attraction, a wick made of flax drew the oil up to feed the flame. Of course, a ‘smoldering wick’ would be one about to go out.

Jesus proclaimed his comforting message to many who were figuratively like a bruised reed, bent over and knocked about. These people were also like a smoldering flaxen wick because their last spark of life had nearly been extinguished. They really were oppressed and discouraged. However, Jesus did not crush a figurative bruised reed or extinguish a symbolic smoldering wick. His loving, tender, compassionate words did not further discourage and depress suffering people. Instead, his comments and his dealings with them had an uplifting effect. —Matthew 11:28-30.

    Making Clear What Justice Is

7 The compassionate nature of Jehovah’s justice was highlighted with the coming of the Messiah. Jesus taught divine justice and lived in harmony with it, as foretold by the prophet Isaiah. Clearly, God’s justice includes treating with tenderness people who are beaten down. Thus, they are not broken beyond recovery. Jesus, Jehovah’s “servant,” came to the earth to “make clear to the nations” this aspect of God’s justice. He did so, above all, by giving us a living example of what divine justice means. As the “righteous sprout” of King David, Jesus was eager to ‘seek justice and be prompt in righteousness.’—Isaiah 16:5; 42:1-4; Matthew 12:18-21; Jeremiah 33:14, 15.

8 Such a clarification of the nature of Jehovah’s justice was particularly necessary in the first century C.E. The Jewish elders and religious leaders—the scribes, the Pharisees, and others—proclaimed and exemplified a distorted view of justice and righteousness. As a result, the common people, who found it impossible to live up to the demands set by the scribes and Pharisees, likely imagined that God’s righteousness was far out of reach. (Matthew 23:4;Luke 11:46) Jesus showed that this was not the case. He chose his disciples from among these common people, and he taught them God’s righteous standards.—Matthew 9:36;11:28-30.

9 The Pharisees, on the other hand, sought opportunities to display their “righteousness” by praying or making contributions in public. (Matthew 6:1-6) They also tried to demonstrate their righteousness by adhering to countless laws and precepts—many of which were of their own making. Such efforts led them to “pass by the justice and the love of God.” (Luke 11:42) Outwardly, they may have appeared to be righteous, but inside they were ‘full of lawlessness,’ or unrighteousness. (Matthew 23:28) Simply put, they really knew little about God’s righteousness.

After about two years of exerting himself vigorously in the ministry, Jesus expanded his efforts by embarking “on a tour of all the cities and villages” of Galilee. What he saw touched his heart. Jesus felt for people. He was keenly aware of their miserable spiritual condition. He knew that they were mistreated and utterly neglected by the very ones who should have been shepherding them —the religious leaders. Motivated by deep compassion, Jesus worked hard to reach the people with a message of hope.

Consider how Jesus reacted when he saw crowds of spiritually destitute people, “On seeing the crowds he felt pity for them, because they were skinned and thrown about like sheep without a shepherd.” (Matthew 9:36) Regarding the word here rendered “felt pity,” one Bible scholar says that it denotes “an emotion which moves a man to the very depths of his being.” In fact, this word has been called one of the strongest words in Greek for the feeling... of compassion.

    Sad but true...

But of course, why not blame civilization (mankind) for the work of world rulers of this system of things.

Eph 2:2—In which you at one time walked according to the system of things of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience. And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps disguising himself as an angel of light. (2 Cor 11:14)

Ever get the feeling this has been going on for a long long time?

    Thanks for the post bigwave

Hook up with tis guy 1st:

To everyone who sees them, the new James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) images of the cosmos are beautifully awe-inspiring. But to most professional astronomers and cosmologists, they are also extremely surprising—not at all what was predicted by theory. In the flood of technical astronomical papers published online since July 12, the authors report again and again that the images show surprisingly many galaxies, galaxies that are surprisingly smooth, surprisingly small and surprisingly old.  Lots of surprises, and not necessarily pleasant ones. One paper’s title begins with the candid exclamation: “Panic!”

Why do the JWST’s images inspire panic among cosmologists? And what theory’s predictions are they contradicting? The papers don’t actually say. The truth that these papers don’t report is that the hypothesis that the JWST’s images are blatantly and repeatedly contradicting is the Big Bang Hypothesis that the universe began 14 billion years ago in an incredibly hot, dense state and has been expanding ever since. Since that hypothesis has been defended for decades as unquestionable truth by the vast majority of cosmological theorists, the new data is causing these theorists to panic. “Right now I find myself lying awake at three in the morning,” says Alison Kirkpatrick, an astronomer at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, “and wondering if everything I’ve done is wrong.”

Put another way, the galaxies that the JWST shows are just the same size as the galaxies near to us, assuming that the universe is not expanding and redshift is proportional to distance.

Smaller and smaller is exactly what the JWST images show. Even galaxies with greater luminosity and mass than our own Milky Way galaxy appear in these images to be two to three times smaller than in similar images observed with the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), and the new galaxies have redshifts which are also two to three times greater.

This is not at all what is expected with an expanding universe, but it is just exactly what I and my colleague Riccardo Scarpa predicted based on a non-expanding universe, with redshift proportional to distance. Starting in 2014, we had already published results, based on HST images, that showed that galaxies with redshifts all the way up to 5 matched the expectations of non-expanding, ordinary space. So we were confident the JWST would show the same thing—which it already has, for galaxies having redshifts as high as 12. Put another way, the galaxies that the JWST shows are just the same size as the galaxies near to us, if it is assumed that the universe is not expanding and redshift is proportional to distance.

Tiny and smooth galaxies mean no expansion and thus no Big Bang.

Big Bang theorists have known for years from the HST images that their assumptions necessitate the existence of these tiny, ultra-dense “Mighty Mouse” galaxies. JWST has made the problem far worse. The same theorists have speculated that the tiny galaxies grow up into present day galaxies by colliding with each other—merging to become more spread out. An analogy to this hypothetical merger process would be to imagine a magical toy car a centimeter long that nonetheless weighs as much as a SUV and grows up into a real SUV by colliding with many other toy cars.

Since nothing could have originated before the Big Bang, the existence of these galaxies demonstrates that the Big Bang did not occur.

Math is a Science created by a Satanic religion. Islam.

    Follow who you will though

Oh for crying out loud, mathematics (math) was used before Babylon.

Based on the prominence that the Great Pyramid gives to the sciences of mathematics and astronomy. It is known that in ancient times astronomy and astrology were considered as one. And from Scriptural and secular history it is apparent that the Chaldeans excelled in both. And it further appears that Cheops and those with him, who conquered Egypt with apparently so little effort, came from Chaldea. Therefore, in view of “the mysterious influence which astrologers ascribe to special numbers, figures, positions, and so forth, the care with which the Great Pyramid was so proportioned as to indicate particular astronomical and mathematical relations is at once explained.”

And further, when we consider that “the Chaldeans from the earliest times pursued the study of alchemy in connection with astrology,” by which they hoped to discover the ‘philosopher’s stone,’ and by which in turn they believed they would be able to transmute base metals to gold and silver and at the same time discover the secret of life, then we can find a justification for the building of the Great Pyramid, as a monument erected to astrology with the hope of discovering the fundamental secrets of life and all matter.

ISLAM is the name of the religion founded by Muhammad in the beginning of the seventh century after Christ, making it the youngest of the world’s so-called “great” religions. The term Islam means “resignation” or “entire submission.” The sacred book of Islam is the Quran. It consists of 114 suras or chapters that have verse divisions similar to the Bible, except that these verse divisions are not at all uniform, while some versions do not have any verse division.

In examining the Quran, which is about the size of the Christian Greek Scriptures, one is struck with the absence of miracles or proof that Muhammad was indeed a prophet sent of God. When Moses, the first Bible writer and first prophet to be sent to the descendants of Jacob, went to Israel he was well fortified with miracles to prove his divine mission. See Exodus, chapter 4. Likewise, when Christ Jesus came, he performed so many miracles that all those who had not let themselves be blinded with selfishness had to admit that he was sent of God.—John 7:31; 10:37, 38; 14:11.

Muhammad, however, came with no supernatural proofs of his divine commission. Time and again his critics complained of this and repeatedly he told them that his work was not that of producing signs but merely to preach, and that his lack of signs was for the purpose of testing their faith.

    Starting to sound familiar..?

Physical heavens were created using such precision that, yes, math can be used to prove the laws of the physical universe with absolute precision.

This should express the true creator of mathematics.

Unless of course one’s hope is to prove to the world just how stupid one can become if they so choose too be so..!

  9. @bigwave Go ahead and post all the flat earth’er material you wish, after a/ your omission statement.

Make Your keyboard admission (Post) of these statements onto this forum to respectfully serve as your agreement too, agree to disagree... So those parties can and should: respectfully agree to disagree; with those parties who’s mothers gave birth too them, onto the circle/ spherical earth as their mothers too were also born onto the circle/ spherical earth.

Your omission statement: two simple questions...

    (1) Did your mother give birth too You, onto the flat earth?

    (2) Was your mother also born onto the flat earth?

Doing so you respectfully agree to disagree with those born onto the globe/ spiracle earth. Otherwise, You continue too post flat earth material out of spite and disrespect, simply arguing for the sake of arguing.

    Your choice, bigwave.

Yes, I guess I'm just wrong.

Sorry, but I suppose it's understandable considering that I believe God told me to marry a woman young enough to be my daughter. Even though after 12 years of marriage and every single person on earth 🌎 trying to destroy our marriage and convince me I'm just a pedophile hasn't worked.

And let's not forget I also believe God told me to join the Catholic church well known for its pedophile priest and heresy.

I could go on and on about my hypocrisy and foolish ways but what's the use? I've been hated for 58 years by EVERY SINGLE PERSON in my life "including my own parents".

I guess Jesus and I do have something in common after all. :facepalm1:

Anyways, the hatred has taken its toll on me and quite frankly I don't give a dam about anything anymore. Who cares if the earth is flat, or the Church a pedophile ring, or Trump the savior of the world?

I'm just a hypocritical fool and it seems my only reason to exist is to be the dog everyone has to kick.

Therefore, I regret having brought my beliefs and foolish thoughts before this grand community and I apologize to everyone who felt unduly subjected to them. I will refrain from doing this anymore.

    I'm out

    Always about you...

If your heart desire is to continue imposing folklore over other sincere posters as they express how they have experienced life on God’s green earth, God’s creation to/ for mankind as a home... Do so only on an equal ground, by: admitting your mother gave birth too You, onto the flat earth admitting also your mother was born onto the flat earth.

Make Your keyboard admission of these statements onto this forum to respectfully serve as your agreement too, agree to disagree... So those parties can and should; respectfully agree to disagree: with those parties who’s mothers gave birth too them, onto the circle/ spherical earth as their mothers too were also born onto the circle/ spherical earth.

    What was the original Lie?

At this the serpent said to the woman: “You certainly will not die. For God knows that in the very day you eat from it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and bad.” (Gen 3:4,5)

Satan deceived Eve, got her pondering the idea she could be like God, perhaps God was holding back something back that could be rightfully hers. Satan was hoping Adam would fallow in his ( Satan’s) rebellion against Jehovah God, does Jehovah God have the right to rule over His Creation. Which Adam’s choice was to decide for himself what is good and what is bad. The result (or new reality) Adam’s chose to Love the woman more than his Loving Creator and heavenly father Jehovah God, even putting blame God for giving him Eve.

Jehovah God kept calling to the man and saying to him: “Where are you?” Have you eaten from the tree from which I commanded you not to eat?” The man said: “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit from the tree, so I ate.” Jehovah God then said to the woman: “What is this you have done?” The woman replied: “The serpent deceived me, so I ate.”

Instead of relying on the wisdom of his creator to decide what is good and what is bad, Adam and Eve began deciding for themselves, in a sense God like, creating their own reality separate from the reality their wise and Loving creator had for them.

In using his God given free will in this way, is the reality Adam created now, choosing for himself what is good and what is bad been beneficial for him, his wife Eve and their offspring?

What of the Father of the Lie; appears he filled the position that he tricked Eve into saying she would be like God. 2Cor 4:4.... Satan is “the god” referred to here this is clearly indicated later in the verse where it says that he “has blinded the minds of the unbelievers.” Jesus called Satan “the ruler of this world”, “god of this system of things [or, “of this age”]”.

In all, 105 pages of argument’s put forth we now have ample and clear evidence’s for concluding, Flat earth followers are from a flat earth— Globe earth followers are from a globe earth.

In the event that flat earth followers are not willing or able to concur, only’ lends others to conclude, flat earth followers argument is simply for the sake of argument and there is no general purpose, reasoning or conclusion behind said argument its simply futile.

  16. Why post this health conference video here, about past time to figure that out?

    Perhaps this one too...

John 18:36—Jesus answered: “My Kingdom is no part of this world. If my Kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have fought that I should not be handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my Kingdom is not from this source.”

Consider what occurred when the Jewish religious leaders had Jesus arrested and taken to Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor. In reality, those leaders were disturbed because Jesus had exposed their hypocrisy. To get the governor to take action against Jesus, they accused him by saying: “This man we found subverting our nation and forbidding the paying of taxes to Caesar and saying he himself is Christ a king.” (Luke 23:2) Clearly, this was a lie because a year earlier when the people wanted to make Jesus king, he refused. (John 6:15) He knew that he was to be a heavenly King in the future. (Luke 19:11, 12) Also, he was to be enthroned, not by humans, but by God, Jesus’ father.

Just three days before Jesus’ arrest, the Pharisees tried to get Jesus to say something incriminating on the matter of paying taxes. But he said: “Show me a denarius [a Roman coin]. Whose image and inscription does it have?” When they said “Caesar’s,” he replied: “By all means, then, pay back Caesar’s things to Caesar, but God’s things to God.”—Luke 20:20-25.

No, Jesus did not teach rebellion against secular authorities. When soldiers and other men came to arrest Jesus, Peter drew a sword and struck one of the men, cutting off an ear. But Jesus said: “Return your sword to its place, for all those who take the sword will perish by the sword.” (Matthew 26:51, 52) The next day Jesus explained his actions to Pilate, saying: “My kingdom is no part of this world. If my kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have fought that I should not be delivered up to the Jews.” (John 18:36) Pilate admitted that there was “no ground for the charges” against Jesus. But bowing to pressure from the mob, Pilate had Jesus impaled.—Luke 23:13-15; John 19:12-16.

Jesus taught his followers to pray for God’s Kingdom to come and only then told them to pray: “Let your [God’s] will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth.” (Matthew 6:10) In other words, men do not make the Kingdom come by doing God’s will. It is the coming of the Kingdom that causes God’s will to be done on earth. How?

Listen to what the prophecy of Daniel 2:44 says: In the days of those kings [human rulers in the time of the end] the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. And this kingdom will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it alone will stand forever.”

No wonder Jesus said that his Kingdom was no part of this world! Rather... the Kingdom is going to destroy the kingdoms, the governments, of this earth and take their place in ruling mankind. As the God-given government of mankind, it will then see to it that God’s will is done on earth.

    Now compare Rev 21:1-4.
