SAN FRANCISCO MAYOR DEAD AFTER COLLAPSING IN GROCERY STORE

The mayor of San Francisco has suddenly died after collapsing while grocery shopping at a local Safeway store. According to reports, he suffered a heart attack at the relatively young age of 65.

 

Democrat Ed Lee who was the city’s first Asian-American mayor had served in office since 2011 and was re-elected in 2015.

 

The former civil rights attorney presided over the San Francisco during historically tumultuous times as the city and state went to war with President Trump.

 

The city had just finished up with the controversial trial of illegal alien Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, the killer of 32-year-old Kate Steinle in which he was allowed to walk free of murder charges as the liberal jury used the case to send an anti-Trump message.

Was the stress too much for Mayor Lee?

 

I suppose that question will never be answered but it sure couldn’t have helped.

Via the San Francisco Examiner “San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee dies at age 65”:

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee died early Tuesday morning, his office confirmed. He was 65.

The mayor died at 1:11 a.m. at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. Former Mayor Willie Brown said Lee was shopping at his neighborhood Safeway at 625 Monterey Blvd. when he suffered a heart attack. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“It is with profound sadness and terrible grief that we confirm that Mayor Edwin M. Lee passed away on Tuesday, December 12 at 1:11 a.m. at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. Family, friends and colleagues were at his side,” his office said in a statement.

Board of Supervisors President London Breed became acting mayor of San Francisco following Lee’s death, in accordance with city charter.

San Francisco Board of Supervisors President London Breed has been named to temporarily replace Lee and becomes the city’s first African-American female to serve in that capacity.

Condolences to Lee’s family, politics aside, it’s a tough time of year to lose a loved one.
