OhMyGoodnessKate
Iraqi PM to outline government cuts to parliament By SAMEER N. YACOUB Associated Press 2011-07-29 08:18 PM An Iraqi official says Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is pushing plans with parliament to trim the nation's bloated government. A media official in al-Maliki's office on Friday confirmed he will address lawmakers Saturday. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to release the information. Initially, al-Maliki and other Iraqi political leaders were to discuss Saturday whether U.S. troops should stay in Iraq after 2011. That meeting has been canceled. Parliament this week defeated al-Maliki's plans to overhaul Iraq's electoral commission. Sadrist lawmaker Baha al-Araji on Friday called the push "politically motivated." The commission last year rejected al-Maliki's claims of vote fraud in national elections and nearly cost him his job. link: http://www.taiwannews.com.tw/etn/news_content.php?id=1666573
