April 30th, 2011 10:53 pm · ) Today was a big day! Admittedly, not as BIG as we had hoped, but big none the less. Here’s what we know….

• Today The GOI and CBI agreed to pay $400 million dollars to Americans who were adversely affected by the invasion of Kuwait (our troops)

• The GOI took the first steps toward filling the vacant ministry positions.

• The GOI announced that they would continue working throughout the weekend to get it done (instead of taking their normal 3 days off)

• The GOI added the (crucial) HCL (Hydorcrabon Law) to the schedule of laws to be passed.

• The Parliament has given Maliki ONE WEEK to seat the vacant minister positions or they say that they will “withdraw the vote of confidence” (Which basically invokes a clause for a new election, which basically says “You’re Fired”.

• Maliki has given Parliament also ONE WEEK to seat the vacant minister positions, or he will find them ineffective at doing their job (which is passing laws) and will replace many of them, which essentially says, “You’re Fired”.

• In a press release today, the whole GOI, says that the ministers still not being seated is a shared responsibility and they must work together to correct the situation ASAP.

• In another Press Release today, the GOI firmly stated that they insist on having the Arab Summit in Bagdad, and they are working to maintain the date May 15th.

• They are still working on the currency issues related to denominations & value.

• Italy today told the GOI that its stalling is costing them money. So they are threatening to withdraw their $20 BILLION dollar investment in the country unless they get it done.

It appears that they are making progress. It appears that they are actually noticing how much pressure they are under. It appears that they are aware that “business as usual” just can’t be “business usual” anymore. It also appears that they are taking action (working though their holiday). It also appears that they might be understanding that compromise is required to get something done in a democracy.

So, I feel good that they are working on filling the minister positions and completing the GOI. I also feel good that they are working on passing the HCL. It is my understanding that both need to be done in order to RV.

In other news, the Presidential order 1303 (http://www.gpoaccess…D-201000372.htm) expires on May 12th – 17th without the protection of that order they don’t have a leg to stand on and are completely exposed until Full Chapter VII Sanctions are fully released June 30th. That means that they either need to “beg” for an extension of that executive order, or Re-Value their currency so they can stand on their own, or the UN needs to release the Chapter VII Sanctions early (as Iraq has met the majority of the criteria that would legally and fully release them, and the GOI NEEDS to accomplish the things above (Fully Seated GOI and Passed HCL) in order to have the sanctions lifted ahead of schedule.

I am sure that this hits close to home for many Iraqi politicians… If you do not do what the “powers that be” want you to do….

Things heating up in the region. NATO tried to assonate Muammar Gaddafi today when they fired three missiles into his house. Gaddafi and his wife were unharmed in the attack, but his youngest son (29) and thee of his grandchildren were killed in the attack.

Can you feel the PRESSURE COOKER?? OMG Big things are happening… Send your thoughts, your prayers, your support for this incredible time of transition!

Sounds good, got the words out now lets see some action and get the RV completed.
