tcjams Posted January 12, 2011 Report Share Posted January 12, 2011 (Voice of Iraq) - Defense Ministry denied the reports about its intention to conclude a deal to buy sophisticated weapons from the United States worth up to $ 13 billion. Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Mohammed al-Askari said those reports were untrue, and no government has any intention at the present time to conclude such deals, pointing at the same time that the government had a plan for development and rehabilitation of the Iraqi forces will be announced in due course. The press reports indicated that the Iraqi government plans to buy planes, helicopters, tanks, armored vehicles and missiles will enter into service in the defense and interior ministries in 2013.
