Sources reveal the changing position of the U.S. administration to support the candidature of Abdul-Mahdi as prime minister

Sources familiar with the talks on the political blocs appeared to change during the past few days, the U.S. administration's position on candidates for prime minister.

The agency quoted the Iraqi national news / Nina / from those sources as saying: "The U.S. administration began to support the Vice-President of the Republic National Coalition candidate, Adel Abdul Mahdi as prime minister after the coalition candidate was supporting the rule of law, Nuri al-Maliki."

The sources added: "The reason for this change the U.S. position is to accept most of the political parties winning elections Adel Abdul-Mahdi, and a realization that personal compatibility can not cause problems for Iraq after the withdrawal in order to preserve the functioning of the democratic process."

They noted that sources said: "For Abdul-Mahdi to support and accept the Iraqi List for the job and convince him of the Kurdistan Alliance in addition to blocks of the Iraqi National Coalition to make the U.S. administration to change their opinion and adopt its support to ensure a quiet and responsible withdrawal from Iraq."

The Iraqi politicians indicated that the visits by U.S. leaders, including Vice President Joe Biden and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Feltman was designed to support Nouri al-Maliki as prime minister and there will be a rapprochement between Iraq and the rule of law.
