However, according to director of scientific affairs, Ashley Jordan Ferira, Ph.D., RDN, you can tell your immune system with some of these tests. As quoted by Mind Body Green, below is a way to find out if your immune system is in top condition: 1. Complete blood count "A complete blood count (CBC) will definitely be the No. 1 baseline to see if there is a dysfunction with any of your main classes of immune cells," says Ferira. This test will measure all the different features of your blood, including red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, hemoglobin, and hematocrit. Different types of white blood cells such as neutrophils, lymphocytes, basophils, can explain your immune response. "We know, for example, that neutrophils increase when you have an infection," says Ferira. 2. Metabolic health & inflammation Immunity and metabolic health are intertwined, as your immune system acts as a sensor of your metabolic state. "Metabolic health and inflammation, these mechanisms go hand in hand with immunity," continued Ferira. That's why Ferira suggests checking metabolic health markers. You can check waist circumference, blood pressure, blood sugar, lipids, and several other checks. "In the area of inflammation, [test] things like C-reactive protein," he adds. As well as serum ferritin, and D-dimer. These lab results can signal your inflammatory response. Vitamin Level 3. Vitamin D status Ferira also brings up the importance of nutritional status, namely vitamin D levels. Fat-soluble vitamins and hormones play an important role in immune function, and Ferira says a 25-hydroxyvitamin D blood test can measure your levels. "[It's] a biomarker for your vitamin D status," he notes. "If you don't know your baseline, I encourage you to do a 25-hydroxyvitamin D serum test." 4. Vitamin C levels A less common but still significant measurement is vitamin C levels. "That's plasma ascorbic acid levels," explains Ferira. Vitamin C plays a big role in immunity. In particular, vitamin C promotes the multiplication of lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell, to fight foreign invaders in the body. 5. Zinc levels Trace minerals are essential for the development and function of many of your innate immune cells (neutrophils, macrophages, and natural killer cells) and adaptive immune responses (B cells and T cells). To test your natural zinc levels, Ferira recommends requesting a serum test. link : https://id.yahoo.com/news/5-tes-untuk-mengetahui-sistem-000054776.html
