umbertino
Drummer Peter Erskine youtube comment on "Blue Skies": We recorded this "live" — as in all together at the same time — without much warning (as to the tempo!). That's John Patitucci holding it all together on the bass. Al Jarreau was magnificent. And while Wayne Shorter's tenor adorns most of the film soundtrack (as well as Jeff Porcaro's and Larry Bunker's drumming — Jeff, with typical modesty, told me that he asked Larry to play some of the brush cues), this is Bob Sheppard playing saxophone on "Blue Skies" (I'm playing on this, along with Russ Ferrante on piano...). Good memories of a short session, this was the first and only take. The film uses the bass and drums from this take during the scene where the safe break-in is discovered the next morning...
