Because the industrial district of Hawija does not have power and also the municipality has raised tax, most of the shopkeepers and factory owners have left their working places, said Abdul-Kareem Ta’an on Monday. “We call on Hawija Electricity Office to provide 6 hours power to the district just as the industrial area in Kirkuk”, he added. The residents, shopkeepers and factory owners in Hawija intend to set a protest display against the power shortage, according to Sabhan Khalaf Juburi, the Administrator for Hawija.“But we have delayed them”, Juburi added. “We have asked the Provincial Council and also the Electricity Directorate of Kirkuk to increase the power supply to the industrial area in Kirkuk”, he declared. The calls, according to Juburi, have not only been left unanswered but also the Directorate has cut down the national grid of the district.
