US denies Feltman proposing to divide Premiership

Friday, June 18, 2010 12:01 GMT

The US Embassy in Baghdad denied media reports saying that US Assistant Secretary of State Jeffrey Feltman proposed to divide Premiership between Al Iraqiya and State of Law Coalition.

Feltman had no proposals to convey to US officials, US Embassy spokesman Philip Frayne said.

US Assistant Secretary of State Jeffrey Feltman urged to accelerate the formation of an inclusive government, Frayne added.

Fetlman stressed that the decision to form a new government is in the hands of the Iraqi people while the US is in no position to interfere, the US Embassy spokesman noted.

The US respects Iraq’s sovereignty and Iraqis should decide about their own fate, Feltman pointed out according to Frayne.
