  1. It defies logic that, if Iraq could RV its currency any significant amount, they would not have already done so. By a simple RV, they could move, overnight, from facing a huge deficit, to becoming one of the richest countries on earth - worth trillions of dollars - and all by the stroke of a pen. I've heard all the GURU reasons they would choose to stay broke; but, they just seem silly.

  3. I dunno. I just seems like simple math, to me. There are far more dinar than USD in the world. I guess the U.S. is going to have to put on another shift at the mint.
  4. So a guy in the U.K. heads down to the Iraqi bank in London after the RV, walks up to a teller, and says "I've got 5 million dinar here, would you please give me $15 million dollars...oh, and I've got a few hundred friends that will be here shortly." What's a little bank in the U.K. to do? Do they call up Turki and say, "Ummm, could you send me a billion U.S. to cover these exchanges?" The devil seems to be in the details. Where the heck does all of this USD come from? I mean, I doubt they have many Euros in the vault, either.
  5. I see dontlop, the forum pet, is still at it it's swiss dinar obsession. I'll check back again in a couple of months.
  6. The CBI does have sufficient reserves for their currency...at 1166.
  7. If it's so simple, why doesn't Kuwait RV their currency to $10 per dinar? They only have 25 billion dinar. Piece of cake. Why would they choose to keep that pathetic $3 and change? Or why not $30 per dinar? Shouldn't be a problem for Kuwait, right? They have six times the reserves of Iraq. And a tiny percentage of dinar.
  8. Iraq is not exceptional. This whole thing is dead simple. Iraq cannot significantly RV their currency. It is economically impossible.
  9. "Fractional reserve banking. I don't have to have a million in cash, they can just create fake zero's out of thin air in the bank, just like they do for themselves." Only commercial banks use fractional reserve banking. Central banks don't make commercial loans. Central banks do not do FRB.
  10. I know they WANT to be involved internationally economically, but they have nothing but oil to offer the international community. That's why the IMF keeps telling them they must diversify their economy.
  11. And, while I don't think they will do it, they need to lop, reduce the number of Dinar to billions, so that what's left will be worth closer to the dollar. But there is clear and consistent opposition to that among political factions in Iraq, so I don't think it will happen.
  12. Iraq's most immediate problem economically is that they are spending every penny they get from oil sales to run the country, plus some more, thus deficits. They will never sell enough oil to move forward economically. They must diversify.
  13. There are solid reasons that country's whose primary export is oil do not float their currency. I don't see Iraq floating their currency for many years. Not until they have diversified their economy greatly.
  14. Yep. Still have Dinar. My theory has always been that over the years the currency will gradually increase in value. I'm not convinced they will lop, though. I don't think they have the political will to do that. An RV is impossible. A lop a definite possibility. But the more likely outcome a slow drift up in value over the next 10 to 20 years.
  15. I think Jagerson's prediction success rate has been pretty good. Anyone who has said everyday for the last 10 years that it will not RV has a 100 percent success rate. Much higher than the Dinar Gurus.
  16. I'm waiting for a link to an official document from the U.S. Army.
  17. 18. dontlop is completely uninterested in the Dinar. He's just playing games. Waste of time to reply to him.
  19. The reaction toward "lobsters" by the Go RV'ers is the same kind of reaction you see from evangelical Christians to one of their crowd who deconverts and becomes an atheist. It is pretty startling to see it played out in a currency speculation scenario. It just emphasizes the cultish nature of the nonsense swirling around a near worthless currency. It's just the currency of a small, unstable country with a limited economy. There is nothing exceptional about the Dinar. Jesus is not going to come down and spread wealth to all the devoted followers.
  20. While dontlop has been preaching this trade surplus stuff for some time, he doesn't understand that a trade surplus is NOT a good thing for Iraq. It is one of the primary reasons they are running budget deficits each year, as Iraqi economists have been pointing out for some time.
  21. Someone seems to be trying to reimagine history. There is no such large scale rescue plan going on with Iraq.
  22. Great depression ended in 1939. The War itself is what boosted our economy. Making all those bombs and stuff.
  23. Great Depression : Began in 1929. Marshall Plan: Began in 1948.
