Parliament: government must activate customs law

Shafaq News / The Parliament denied Saturday, the information that talked about the government’s postponement of the customs law, noting that the law will become effective from today and the government will be against the law if not implemented.
A member of the parliamentary Finance Committee, Haitham al-Jubouri told "Shafaq News", that "the information that said that the government didn’t work with the customs law is not true."
"The parliament is one that decides to amend the law, the Iraqi government can propose the postponement but with the approval and the ratification on this subject are within the parliament powers."
"There is a proposal by the government to delay working with law, the Finance Committee in the Parliament discussed the subject and did not reach a conclusion regarding the governmental proposal."
"The government parties don’t oppose the implementation of the law but say that it needs almost a year to train their staff on the implementation of the law as well as the existence of logistical needs that will not make it able to implement the law fully,” he added.
"The Finance Committee is still considering the request and if the government really needs to fill the gap in some technical aspects, it will not force the government to implement the law until the completion of procedures."
"The Customs Act will become effective from 6/30/2012 and the government will be against the law if it didn’t implement it,” Jubouri said.
The Iraqi government called the parliament on 28 of April to be patient in the application of the Tariff Act that is due to work with at the beginning of next July for not completing the necessary foundations for succeeding the application of the law, while the representative economy and investment Commission confirmed that it will consider the government request to postpone the customs tariff and will have a stand from it, revealing the benefit of some of the speculators and the neighboring countries from not activating the law.

Maliki vows to implement reforms package and accept the mandate of two sessions presidencies

Sources close to Prime Minister Maliki is preparing to submit a draft includes a series of concessions, which termed it (b reforms). The package includes reforms to review the file of the accused, and dealing with everyone with one eye, without discrimination, and judgment was passed against former Trade Minister Abdul Falah al-Sudani step of the way.

I'm thinking they are implementing the agreement ,( which has already been agreed upon), as a necessary step to go ahead with a vote of no confidence. If the Erbil is not actually IMPLEMENTED..they can't move forward with actually kicking his azz to the curb, for not following it....JMO

If I remember correctly....articles after the Summit talked about import tariffs being signed with other arab states, & that they agreed to them starting in June. IMO it's not easily postponed...not to mention the respect/dignity issues.

LOL, I understand. It use to make me a little skeptical too when reading articles but then I learned that the month and year are reversed in most other countries!
Actually the dates in the links pdf freaked me out ! lol

The people of Iraq will not fully benefit from this currency. That article does not talk about international exchange. From my own research the IQD will hold face value when exchanging international.

From what I understood......A lot of the troops were going to be moved into Kuwait. Ready to bounce back into Iraq if / when needed. I guess we'll see. An RV first would be nice.

Iraqi government completed the amendments to the draft law of oil and gas
Baghdad, August 25 / August (Rn) – The adviser in the Iraqi government said on Thursday that the Council of Ministers ended the necessary amendments to the law of oil and gas, and will be submitted to the Parliament after the Eid holiday.

Sorry if this is an old article. My understanding now..is that it's possibly 3 years old.
On the brite side....If this "estimated rate" is 3 years old....it's very posible it's gone up a little .

Great post....This Forum needs moderators that control this. IMO it's totally acceptable to have heated discussions, ( completely different than "bashing"). Some folks that may have something descent to offer,( such as myself), don't post, not wanting to deal with the bashing.
