  1. U.S. oil production surpassed 10 million barrels a day in November for the first time in nearly 50 years, a milestone that underscores the growing dominance of the U.S. oil industry.

While global oil exporters once dismissed shale as a flash in the pan, the industry has emerged more efficient than ever from a three-year oil price rout and is poised to take advantage of prices that are at their highest levels since late 2014.

In November, production rose to 10.038 million barrels a day, 4% more than the previous month, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. That is just shy of the monthly record of 10.044 million barrels a day in November of 1970.

The resurgence of the U.S. shale industry is the latest turn in the tug of war between shale producers and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, which last year coordinated an output cut with other major exporters, including Russia. The group has been trimming about 2% of global oil supply in a bid to work off a glut and raise prices.

The efforts have paid off: prices have surged this year amid tightening supplies and world-wide economic growth that stirred surprisingly strong demand.

  2. Inhumane, illegal immigration like this is wrong on so many levels.  Tougher law enforcement and tighter border security will stop these kinds of activities and maybe just maybe people who want to enter the US will do it the legal way like my grand parents. The West Texas border area is basically a desert and extremely dangerous to traverse on foot.  Hundreds die every year trying to get into our country through that rough terrain.  What has been going on at our borders is inhumane and needs to stop imo!!!

LAREDO, Texas (AP) — Authorities say a semitrailer driver is in custody after he was found to be transporting 76 immigrants in Texas.

The U.S. Border Patrol said in a statement Monday that the immigrants were discovered Friday at a checkpoint on U.S. 83, about 35 miles (56 kilometers) north of Laredo in South Texas. The semitrailer stopped in the checkpoint's primary lane where the driver, a U.S. citizen, was questioned about his immigration status.

His rig was kept for further inspection, and agents found the immigrants inside the trailer.

The immigrants are from Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. Thirteen were unaccompanied minors. The Border Patrol says all of them are in good health.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Nina Pruneda says the driver's identity and other details about the case are being withheld at this time.

  4. BAGHDAD — Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi is invited to a parliamentary session on Wednesday as disputes over the annual budget bill prolongs.

Abadi is expected to provide clarifications on certain issues pertaining to the 2018 budget bill.

The PM’s visit to parliament comes after Kurdish, Sunnis and some Shi’ite lawmakers boycotted a Tuesday session on the bill.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has already objected to the bill due to the fact that its share has been slashed from 17% to 12%.

  5. BAGHDAD — The Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq has warned of the possibility of delaying the elections due to lack of funds.

Riyadh Badran, an official at the electoral commission, said on Tuesday that they might not be able to finalise the preparations for the upcoming polls if the government delays providing the required funds.

He said that the commission will face drastic issues if the fund is not provided within one week.

Iraq is holding its parliamentary elections on 12th May.

  6. I heard a juicy rumor today.  I heard it from a friend who’s uncle knows a guy who has a friend that works for the government, who said to be sure you listen to the speech tonight.  In the speech will be one sentence.  Iraq will revalue the Dinar at 1 to 1 and all will be great. Especially the super smart people who bought dinars years ago

  7. This person enjoys the freedoms the US Military has afforded him. He should be forced to spend 2 years in the Military.  Maybe then he would have a better appreciation for what they have done for his sorry ass.

A Southern California high school teacher was caught on camera denigrating the intelligence of people serving in the US military.

In the videos, which were stealthily recorded in class by a student at El Rancho High in Pico Rivera, California, history teacher Gregory Salcido, 49, can be heard making a variety of unflattering remarks about service people, at one point calling them the 'lowest of the low.'

The videos went viral after being posted on Facebook by a Connecticut woman claiming to be the anonymous student's mother's friend.

Al-Rafidain Bank announced the activation of the transfer of funds to citizens electronically between the branches of the State Bank on the one hand and private banks on the other in Baghdad and the provinces.
The bank’s information office said in a statement that it “decided to apply the system of electronic remittances and a citizen who has funds in the banks of civil authorities in the transfer of his assets to Rafidain Bank in any province and a short period.”
“This step also includes a citizen who does not have an account at the bank who can also transfer his money wherever he is,” the statement said.

One Billion Iraqi Dinars Allocated for Yezidi Survivors of IS

     Basnews English  27/01/2018 - 22:03 Kurdistan

ERBIL — The provincial council of Nineveh in Iraq has allocated a special budget of one billion Iraqi Dinar (approximately $850,000) as financial aid to the Kurdish Yezidi girls who have survived the Islamic State (IS) slavery.

The initiative came last year for the first time when Nineveh provincial council provided financial aid to 1710 Yezidi women, some 560,000 Iraqi Dinars for each.

The aid is from Nineveh provincial budget, said Saido Chato, a member of the council.

He further revealed to BasNews that they have also called on the Iraqi central government to provide a parcel of land for each household of survivors as they have already lost their properties and suffered a lot from the terrorist group.

  10. I believe they learned it from the far Left.  Extreme views Left or Right collect folks that are passionate, unbending, combative, and intolerant of others who don’t think like them. In our political climate we are bombarded with these 2 opposing extremist views and are almost forced to pick a side and argue those extreme views.  Our political parties are calling these extremists their BASE and it is why we are so polarized as a country these days.

Most folks are moderate and would love for the divisive shill extreme political climate to end. Most folks me included expect our politicians to come to a compromise or middle ground which will be the greatest good for the greatest number. The extremists on both sides are never going to be happy so why do our politicians pander to them.  Easy, the squeaky wheel gets the grease and for donations. As long as Washington plays to their extremist bases we will continue to have 4-8 years of Leftist policies followed by 4-8 years of Right policies.  If this contentious political climate continues we will end up in a civil war. Blue States vs Red States, what rubbish.  We are all Americans and it is still called the United Stares of America, at least for a few more years.
