  1. I would trust the Mesopotamia Fund under Merchant Bridge in London, UK and the AB Fund in Dubai, UAE before I would trust a new under-capitalized hedge from from Chicago.... R/s and Semper Fidelis, Gunner

  5. If the rate comes in at $.10- $.33 I plan on liquidating just enough to pay off bills and taxes to achieve debt neutrality and sit on the rest. If the rate comes in at $.86 - $1.00 I plan on working the previous step but also working some small investments. If the rate comes in at $2.00 -$3.00+ I plan on making the the rest breathe hard and sweat in serious business investments. No large funds sleeping in banks collecting 1-2% interest. And something for philanthropy. The Creator of All Things would expect this. I believe the Iraqi's pride would require them to RV within striking distance of the Kuwaiti Dinar. After all my time in Iraq I wish great things for the Iraqi people. I want their long nightmare to end. R/s and Semper Fidelis, Gunner
  6. The 7 day window was the North Korean Finance Ministers big idea to screw the large black market in that country. The plan failed so miserably and disrupted the economy so badly (it was pretty sick already), that they releived him of his post. His reward for his big idea? He was executed for his great plan...... I would not recommend you spend any more time hand-wringing over this dubious information. Too many people and countries have invested in IQD for this to happen. The IMF would veto this in a nanosecond. Not the way to get out from under Chapter VII either. Deep breathing exercises. Relax. Enjoy the ride. I've been at this investment since arriving in the Baghdad Green Zone in the summer of 2004. I think we can see the finish line from here. Semper Fidelis, Gunner
  7. Semper Fidelis to all my fellow DevilDogs as well as to all our DevilDocs (Navy Corpsmen) who I was honored to serve with. Happy 235th Marine Corps Birthday from the Gunner.
  8. I called the Wells Fargo 1-800-786-5593 FOREX number. Talked to a nice young man and discussed cashing in information. He indicated that they had no info on the dinars yet. No surprise there. I asked him about De La Rue machines and he had no idea which FOREX branches would have them. He knew of none anywhere in the system. I discussed the issue of FDIC limits per each bank account and indicated a desire to move funds by bank wire to my other bank accounts. He indicated that there were no bank wire limits. I asked specifically about bank wires of 7 digits and he said it is no problem. He also gave me the address of the two FOREX branches in Albq, NM where the dinars would most like be traded in the future if Wells Fargo opted to perform that business. I hope this helps. 9. CITI is a major network gateway in and out of the USA. It is a datacommunications network routing function only. My last job in Iraq had my payroll wired from Dubai through the CITI gateway to my Navy Federal Credit Union account. It has nothing to do with the activation of the Iraqi banks SWIFT codes. The activation of the Iraqi banking SWIFT codes in very encouraging.
  10. My recommendation is to drive to the locations where it will be liquidated no matter what the distance. I don't trust TSA with anything. Use an on-site verified bank wire method as described in the conference calls when Ali described the Dinar Trade company procedures. Dinar Banker has the same methods as well. Call the liquidation site to find out whether they have the De La Rue machine for verifying the currency. At this time Wells Fargo does not according to their FOREX 1-800 service line. Then break up the deposits at your home bank with transfers to other accounts (in other banks and credit unions) to keep them within the limits of the FDIC insurance. Some churches in New York got burned a decade or so ago when the Lincoln Savings went under.
  11. I voted a couple of weeks ago with my Absentee Ballot for Florida. No Drama There!!
  12. I was in Joint Base Balad when this first came down early this year. Instead of flying commercial out of BIAP on Royal Jordanian or Iraqi Airways, take MILAIR out of Iraq to Ali As Salim in Kuwait. No big deal. Semper Fidelis, Gunner
  13. A couple of things to ponder while people are hand-wringing about Al-Maliki: 1. While in Iraq I asked my Iraqi co-workers their views on Iranians. Most of them had lost relatives in the Iran-Iraq war. Their loathing of the Iranians was visceral, viral, deep, very deep. They even hate the way Farsi sounds to their ears. I am referring to opinions of Sunni and Shia Iraqi's both. 2. The Sunni's with Allawi's backing have continued to control the Ministry of Defense. Iyad Allawi was the Controller when I was there in 2007, I believe. 3. When the recent elections were going down, I asked my co-workers their opinions of Al-Maliki, Allawi, Chalabi, etc. Their response was a universal loathing of them too. Their view was, " Why should I support them. They were out of the country when we were getting bombed here." IMHO, I don't think Al-Maliki or Al-Sadr have the backing from the Iraqi people in order to allow their Iranian handlers to have the Pasdaran-Revolutionary Guard or the Basiji to be marching down the streets of Baghdad. The Sunni's and secular Shia running MoD would pull a military coup long before that. And the MoD has bigger teeth than the Ministry of the Interior, to include 13 brigades of Sunni Kurdish Peshmurga. And the police I saw training in Jordan were lightweights, sad-sacks. I am not sweating these gyrations with the forming of the government. The Iraqis will be Iraqi nationalists long before they become stooges of Ahmadinnerjacket..... My opinion only. 14. All Hands: I have been saving dinars from 2004-2006. Four contracting tours in Iraq and one in Jordan training Iraqi Police Cadets. I have been a member for a little while but have not been motivated to post on the forums. I appreciate some of the information on these blogs. I have observed a couple of things that are a constant: 1) It appears that we engage in a great American pastime, ripping each others guts out at the drop of a hat. 2) Putting out posts that are inherently brain-dead. 3)"Hippy Punching" Newbies. 4) Dissing Iraqi's, some of whom I had the privilege of working with. Some of the bravest people I have met in this life. 24 years in the Marine Corps says I aught to be a decent judge in this matter. And several years of incoming fire: 60mm and 80mm mortars, 122mm Katyushas, AK and PKM rounds, etc. Remember, they are the ones who's decisions will enrich all of us. These blogs have generated a lot of stress. I think everyone needs to decompress a little. Xanax is your friend. I invested because I am a believer, for seven years now. Iraq will be a winner in the long run. Afghanistan I am not so sure of, at least where economics are concerned. If you are not of a positive mindset on this activity my recommendation is to sell your dinars and Bounce! And save us your bile! I appreciate the efforts Adam, Ali and the other advisers have put out there. I have and am in it for the long haul. I hope all the believers hang in there with us. Thanks and Semper Fidelis, Gunner
