  1. << but they have a long way to go before any of us will make any money. I am ok with that. I expected a 10-15 year wait when I invested 7 years ago. >> Then maybe you really know more than our government, the IMF, a CBI and all the other middle east experts? How many news stories have to be printed explaining about Chapter 7, Iraq's constitution and their supreme court, to get you all to understand just what is at stake for Iraq? We are talking TRILLIONS of dollars for Iraq in oil sales, construction contracts, military and defense contracts and several HUNDRED additional projects, ALL signed and just waiting to be acted upon. They lose over a billion dollars in funding if the RV doesn't happen by years end. Not only that, but the leadership (An oxy-moron) of Iraq stands to lose their established positions, their comfortable gig, their government royalties and their huge bankrolls if they screw this up. It took Iraq's supreme court to ORDER them back into session. The IMF has drawn a line in the sand. Let's see if their leaders are smart enough to recognize that their time is over for screwing around. This Thursday will be their countries most important date in their history. Let's pray they don't blow it, for ALL of our sakes.
  2. Welcome to the site little seal, and thanks to you for supporting your husband, and thanks to your husband for being a true hero. The power sharing agreement is a "check & balance" program that doesn't give absolute power to any one indivdual or group. This will help insure that another Saddam isn't lurking in the wings. This is an awesome site, and most of the members are good people. Just learn who to ignore, don't allow yourself to get swallowed up by this investment and you'll be fine. Have a very blessed day!
  3. It sounds like you may be heading for a new name, officer 5150. Relax, don't let your blood pressure rise to heart attack / stroke levels. MEDIC!!!!!!
  4. I'd say its time to get on a plane and establish residency in Nevada!
  5. What better place than Harvard, the cornerstone of American education, to announce the RV to the world?
  6. If they don't do an initial RV of at least $2, then the big money speculators jump in and buy the heck out of the Dinar, essentially doing the opposite of what they want in getting the larger bills out of the market. Sure, I'd be tickled to death with .86, but I honestly think that is way too low. As for other countries having their value set at .27, it's been mentioned in several forms that Kuwait pays their citizens a very nice yearly bonus with their oil money, somewhere around $35,000 per citizen per year I believe. That is why their currency is valued so low.
  7. According to this story, that happened back on the 12th. So many conflicting stories on when this was actually done. But, the language here seems to indicate that it's been done for over a week now. Link: http://www.rttnews.com/ArticleView.aspx?Id=1478748 Talabani Elected Iraqi President, Asks Maliki To Form Government 11/12/2010 5:41 AM ET iraq-111210.jpg (RTTNews) - Iraq moved a step closer to a new era of democracy as a key parliamentary session elected incumbent President Jalal Talabani for a second term, who in turn reappointed Nouri al-Maliki as Prime Minister and asked him to form a Cabinet within 30 days. A parliamentary session that finally convened on Thursday night after postponing three times to ensure the presence of maximum number of MPs witnessed dramatic scenes before passing through the crucial procedures required to complete the breaking of the political deadlock. An eight-month-old political uncertainty was resolved on Wednesday night after the country's differing political, religious and ethnic groups agreed on a power-sharing deal. The deal mediated by Kurdish regional President Masoud Barzani gave the post of President to the Kurds, the post of Prime Minister to the Shias, while the Sunni coalition led by former Prime Minister Ayad Allawi was offered the posts of Parliament Speaker, as well as the powerful head of the Council for National Strategy. Iraqiya List member Osama al-Nujaifi, the only candidate named for Speaker, was elected with an overwhelming support of 227 members among the 295 lawmakers who cast their votes. As the stage was set for voting to elect the President, about a third of the al-Iraqiyya MPs - including Nujaifi and Allawi -walked out of the chamber in protest against not passing a motion on demands including a release of detainees and to remove the stigma of Baathism, which had barred the coalition's key figures from taking political office. Some of them, including the Speaker, later returned to the floor. As many as 195 of the 213 Parliamentarians who participated in the vote supported Talabani in a second round of voting after he failed to obtain the two-thirds majority that the Constitution stipulates for a clear-cut victory in the first round. Talabani then invited the head of the largest bloc to form the new government. Although Maliki's State of Law coalition is two-seats short of Allawi's secular Iraqiya List, which made a late surge winning 91 seats in the election, Maliki staked his claim on the basis of an alliance with the Iraqi National List, which makes them the largest faction with 159 Deputies in the 325-member uni-cameral Parliament. Government spokesperson Ali al-Dabbagh had earlier said that Maliki would assume office in his second term after next week's Eid holidays. The Iraqi Parliament, known as Council of Representatives, convened on June 14 for the first time since the election. But it could not elect a new Speaker, which was mandatory for further parliamentary proceedings. Iraq's new Parliament is tasked with drafting legislation on a slew of economic issues as the country tries to move beyond the sectarian violence unleashed after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion and set off on a path of economic development. Early formation of a stable Cabinet is crucial to strengthening Iraqi democracy. The political uncertainty, coupled with recent attacks on Christians and the American forces' withdrawal, had raised fears that the country is returning to sectarian and militant violence and anarchy. While the walkout did not scuttle the power-sharing agreement, the frailty of a broad coalition will be put to test by a possible squabble over positions and power during the one-month time given to complete the formation of the government, reports say. In line with the agreement, major Cabinet and senior positions in government would be shared among parties proportionate to their strength in the Parliament, reports quoting U.S. officials said. U.S. President Barack Obama, who reportedly prompted Allawi to withdraw his claim for Prime Minister's post to end the country's power struggle, is "encouraged by the substantial progress that has been made in forging an inclusive government that represents the Iraqi people and the results of this year's election," the White House said in a statement. It described the breakthrough political agreement an "Iraqi victory" and "big step" that will result in an inclusive government and major redistribution of power. by RTT Staff Writer
  8. Ok, I see where I can buy it, but on the front page, where I used to be able to see a rate of exchange, it's no longer there. Probably just a glitch.
  9. At 10:13 PM PST, I went to do my nightly check of the current rate of exchange on the front page of ezforex.com, a site I've been using now for over a month. Tonight, the Iraqi Dinar was pulled from the site. Can someone else please check this and make sure it's not a glitch on my end.
  10. According to this link, Talabani asked Maliki to do this back on the 12th. http://www.rttnews.com/ArticleView.aspx?Id=1478748 All good news, but would happen faster if this was indeed the date of the request.
  11. I respect that. All I'm saying is I'd love to see the guy be right, after the beating he's taken here.
  12. It's funny, how everyone who bashes on the GET team don't provide a different point of view. Always saying that the are fake, that they aren't really in Iraq, etc etc. truth is, we don't know except them. I do trust Viper, Railroader, Steve I and a host of others here, who provide valuable intel and opinion. I'd LOVE nothing more than to see the RV come in at $8, just to shut all the nay sayers up. I for one, am sick of their poisonous views and posts.
  13. This was the point of my post. The natural resources alone make Iraq the most valuable member of the middle east bloc, and when you add in the ripe opportunities for development in the fledgling Iraq, the contract values add tremendous wealth to the country. A $5 rv rate is VERY sustainable. It pulls in the large notes, jump starts the struggling economy and gives instant credibility to the Iraqi government and their people.
  14. Thank you Jerry. I'm not trying to show anyone up, but I do have an extensive financial background. I've always felt that anything over $1 is pure gravy.
  15. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, and I suspect if I'm right, you wouldn't take the time to come back and admit so, but no matter what, I'll be here.
  16. "IF" it's true that the employees and government workers haven't been paid for November..........and....... "IF" it's true that the smart card is being revalued to 250 Dinar vs 1,250......and........ "IF" it's true that Malaki is holding a press conference on the 21st......and........ "IF" it's true that the IMF will pull funding from Iraq if they don't get the government completed and the Chapter 7 removed by the established deadline...... then.................... I'd say........................... The RV is upon us. B) B) Later would NOT be ok. Too many people here already have lost hope in the current economy, and are counting on this RV to change lives. I'm afraid if something else happens to push this RV into next year, that there will be a lot of people in serious trouble.
  17. Makes a lot of sense, and pretty much right in line with my thinking.
  18. But, there are ways around that yearly figure and around the gift tax. Married couples can each gift $13,000 to an individual per year, and if that person is married, you can gift their spouse as well. Gifting towards educational expenses is also not taxable.
  19. Even though it's your opinion, why do you really think that? I, along with several others have shown over and over why a rate of $3 or more is not only supportable, but is also likely. Otherwise, several things will happen with a very low rv. First, and what would prove disastrous to Iraq's fledgling economy, is all the big money speculators would swoop in and snag all the available Dinar, wait for it to hit it's true value, and then cash out. How do you think George Sorros made a huge chunk of his money? He was able to bankrupt the Bank of England using that very formula. Second, all the companies that have been signed contracts over the past 4 months would be pulling out left and right, if the Dinar didn't revalue to a level to sustain growth. Add to that, the hundreds of billions of dollars that have been forgiven in debts, all based upon a good faith RV. Third, and probably an often overlooked issue, the Iraqi citizen is absolutely fed up with being impoverished. Do you really think they will sit by, and watch as their politicians continue to get fat, after all the promises that have been made to them? Civil war would erupt. Chaos would reign worse than it has to date. No way, no how the Rv happens for anything less than $1, and I wouldn't be at all surprised at $3+. God Bless, and GO RV!!
  20. Hi Frank, I just returned from Las Vegas yesterday. I established my corporate address and bank account, and signed a contract with a friend for renting a room. Once the RV happens, I'm going to have Ali wire all the money to my Nevada account, and will immediately move my entire family there. California will NOT get one penny of state income tax from me. The only requirements for time limit is for tuition and voting. Otherwise, establish the bank account, set up your LLC or trust there, and get an apartment or rent a room to start. GO RV!!
  21. The key points will be what Iraq was getting for their oil in 1990 vs today, and i do believe Iraqs population may have shrunk since 1990. The mortality rate in Iraq for small children is through the roof, they suffered a lot of deaths during both wars as well.
  22. What I was told by my tax atty, is that even after the RV, if you choose to give your brother, sister, mom, dad, etc $100,000 of your money, they are not taxed on that amount. You are entitled to gift up to 1 million in an individuals lifetime.
  23. Smart business people who have money know that the only way you keep your money is to find every loop hole you can. I will NEVER allow the federal government to get my full 35%. Its not like they would use the money to pay down the 12 trillion dollar debt. They'll justwaste it on more stupid pork barrel projects. If you have even a quaret of a million dinar, that will bump you to the 35% tax bracket if it comes anywhere near the $3 mark.
