Well that is interesting about only selling to people traveling to Iraq. Seems there have been a lot of us going to Iraq. Bet there have been a lot of bank employees going to Iraq also!!!

Got off the phone with the fifth third bank in Boca Raton Florida around 1:45 pm today and they are no longer selling the dinar. Asked about the VND and it still can be purchased.

BanG, nice post and a reminder to think on the positive side of things. I just wanted to mention that this afternoon at approximately 4:30 pm EST I went to our local 5/3 bank and picked up my order of 250,000 dinars that I ordered this past Tuesday. a couple of things to consider, which is JMO.(1) The 25,000 notes had previously been circulated (as the edges were slightly worn and dirty).(2) I would have to assume that these notes had been authenticated by 5/3 Bank before selling them to me. Therefore, I have to believe that this investment(speculation) is real and the Iraqi currency will revalue. Perhaps comforting thoughts to some who may not have the same belief we do!

perhaps another way to look at cashing in is with Ali. I believe he will charge $150 per million dinars for his service and will either wire transfer the money directly to your bank account, accounts of choice or will do a direct transfer from his account with either Wells Fargo, Bank of America,etc. The latter is called a bank ledger transfer. It's like moving funds around yourself from one account to another electronically. There is no charge for this type of cash in from the bank side of things. Wiring the money from Ali's account to yours will cost whatever the bank charges for wiring services. Just a thought

Good info, thank you for your post! I think I remember back before we (US) went into Iraq, the UN gave Iraq a six month period before sending in the UN inspectors to search for WMD. My son recently met a man whose son was in the Marines during the grace period, and he mentioned to my son that his son sat at a distance and watched the Iraqis move WMD into Syria. Nothing was ever reported on this due to the fact that we weren't supposed to be there at that particular time. Just passing on info that probably now has no importance other than FYI
