An Iraqi spokesman says $1.5 million worth of assets belonging to Iraq's national airline have been frozen in Jordan. Authorities there were acting on a legal request from Kuwait, which is seeking reparations from Iraq in a dispute dating back to the 1990 invasion in the Gulf War. Kuwait accuses Iraq of stealing 10 airplanes and millions of dollars in equipment and spare parts. An attorney for Kuwait Airlines Corp. says Jordanian courts are investigating whether the Iraqi airline has more money located in Jordan. The legal action is a first step to try to claim at least $130 million in assets that Iraqi Airways reported in Jordan as recently as last year. Iraqi Transportation Ministry spokesman Karim al-Nouri says Baghdad will ask Jordan's courts to unfreeze its assets Sunday.
