k98nights
Party leader calls on Iraqi govt. resign 23/04/2011 14:15 Dohuk, April 23 (AKnews)- The leader of the Iraqi National Party (INP) criticized the Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s government for failing to provide basic services for Iraqis while he called on Maliki to disband his cabinet. Mithal Alusi the leader for the secular INP told AKnews Saturday that Maliki’s government should resign for it is responsible for the basic service deficiencies. “It is an unsuccessful government- an extension of the previous unsuccessful government of Maliki, he added. A technocrat transitional government is to be formed to set the stage for reelections, Alusi said. However, for the transitional government, the INP leader believed even Maliki can assume the headship of that government. Alusi referred to the resignation of the governors of Basra and Babil under Maliki’s order and the protesters pressure. He believed not the governors but Maliki’s government is liable for the deficiencies that have attracted the public to streets. Meanwhile he criticized some Iraqi politicians who label the protesters as “rebels.” “The protesters are civilians,” not political activists, he said. Alusi described the steps by the government to cut the salaries of the high ranking officials “trickery for quenching the angry Iraqi street.” There were some reform–demanding voices but for their own personal interests, the voices have faded away, the leader said. hookerwife
I remember somewhere that this thing will not rv with Maliki in power.....anyone else remember this? Something about his association with Iran and all the corruption associated with him and his party. Anyone else remember something like this? coldwarvet
Don't know, hookerwife, but it would make sense. In the final analysis, the Iraqis' allegiance is primarily defined by whether they are Sunni, Shiite or Kurd, not Iraqi. The alleged Mailki-Iran connection would explain a lot regarding the delays in completing the GOI. It may come down to a vote of no confidence. If so, new elections would be months away. Ouch!
