Mohammed al-Jabbouri told AKnews that the committee approached Turkey and Syria and asked them to provide Nineveh with the electrical stations. "The countries showed their approval to cooperate in this regard, and the coming days will witness significant improvement in providing power of the population of the province to eliminate the shortages that the people of Nineveh suffer from since several years." Nineveh, the second biggest Iraqi provinces, is witnessing severe shortages of electric power, where the hours of power cuts reach in some cases to 10 hours a day, thus causing great problems to some laboratories and factories that have closed causing an increase in unemployment. Hundreds of families of Nineveh came out in several peaceful demonstrations to demand the provincial council of providing electric power that the citizens are suffering from its scarcity. The Federal Government granted powers to the councils to provide electricity through importing from neighboring countries which have common borders with these provinces.
