audigger Posted January 18, 2012 Report Share Posted January 18, 2012 SULAIMANIYAH, Kurdistan region 'Iraq', — Following the recent decline in Iranian currency transactions, almost $500 million USD (585 billion IQD) of Kurdistan Region's businessmen has gone missing, head of Sulaimaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry said. Sirwan Mohammed told AKnews there is a group of Kurdish businessmen who gave their assets to four Iranian counterparts, The money was meant to be remitted through Iranian banks out of the country. "But the Iranians have taken the money." Other Kurdish businessmen remitted their money through the Central Bank of Iran to the National Bank of Dubai. But the money has not been transferred and the businessmen face bureaucratic obstacles. The official added the chamber will meet the businessmen with missing assets to clearly identify the problems and ensure Kurdistan Regional Government KRG is informed in order to find a solution.
