Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi will begin his first visit abroad since taking office on October 24, 2018.
Abdul Mahdi, who was appointed to form the government, pledged not to visit any country six months before his government.
A government source said that Abdul-Mahdi "will travel to the Egyptian capital Cairo on Sunday at the head of a high-level government delegation on his first foreign visit since assuming office at the invitation of the official."
He pointed out that "Abdul Mahdi will discuss with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Prime Minister Mustafa Medboli ways to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in the economic file as well as the file of intelligence cooperation in the war on terrorism."
The source said the three-party meeting between Abdul-Mahdi and al-Sisi would take place with Jordan's King Abdullah II, who is expected to visit Cairo during the prime minister's presence there.
