  1. Most teens can't wait to learn to drive, not so with Sally, driving made her nervous. She didn't get a license until she was 24 years old. As a result, it just happened to be right before she was to get married and they only had one car so they car pooled to work. Her husbands hours were different from hers by one hour but that didn't seem to matter much they were happily in love and they worked it out. Sally had the earlier start time, so her husband would drop her off then go to the diner and drink coffee until it was time for his work to start. The in the afternoons, Sally would leisurely walk the three miles to his work place where she took out her book and read in their car until he got off, besides she had always been into exercising. Second day there she noticed the most beautiful Cadillac pull into the parking lot and park close to her. It was powder blue, long, sleek looking, the kind of car you dream about. Every afternoon same thing and the lady driving it never got out she just sat and waited on her husband. I mean this lady look like a million dollars, sorta like a Liz Taylor resemblance, jet black hair and alabaster skin. I sat each afternoon and greatly stared at this car and this woman who dressed like a movie star. Finally she seen me looking and waved a friendly wave and smiled. A couple of minutes later a nice looking man came out of the building entered her car, leaned over and gave her a big kiss and she drove away. There Sally was sitting there in her jeans, shirt, and pony tail and she was trying not to cry while asking herself how could some people have all that? It would have been easy to forget but once a week she drove that big good looking caddy up and picked up her man and drove away like she didn't have a care in the world. She seemed friendly and always waved and smiled. and never got out of her car. Sally lay awake many nights thinking how some people could have everything they wanted and she and her husband had to scrape to get by. She wondered if they ate out every night at expensive restaurants and if they took trips often. She just wished one time she would get out of her car so Sally could see what kinda cloths she wore. Did she wear tennis shoes or heels, pants or skirt. Little did Sally know her answers would come in a couple of weeks. Sitting in her usual parking lot space, Sally was holding her book, watching over the top of it. She was waiting and when her husband came to the car, she said I will let you drive this evening and he opened the door for her to step out. He took her arm and helped her to her feet. She had on a beautiful skirt and heels, she was dressed very nicely. Once out of the car she leaned on a cane as he helped her to the passenger side. As she sat down she had to lift each leg one at a time into the car while her husband looked on. This beautiful lady had a prosthesis on her right leg and a brace on her left. Sally was trying hard to hold back her tears, thinking and wondering like she did about this lady almost to the point of accusing her of being rich. For weeks she had envied this woman and her way of life, little did she know what lie behind what the eye could see. She couldn't watch them today as they drove away knowing what she saw. When her husband got to the car and found her crying, he asked what was wrong and through her tears she told him about the Cadillac and the lady. Sally's husband told her he knew of the story of what happened to her. When the lady was young she and her parents were in a car that either stalled or got caught on the railroad tracks and was hit by a train. Both her parents were killed and she was severely injured when she was only 12 years old. The railroad made a large settlement with her because the crossing had no signals. He explained that her car was specially built for her needs as well as her home. Sally prayed for forgiveness all the way home for being so envious and what the way she thought about this woman. She thought this lady had everything and she didn't. Sally thanked God over and over for her legs, her arms and her sight and for teaching her a lesson early in life. Remember things sometimes isn't always as they seem: When you meet a person who seems to be much better off than you, don't lay the ground work for foolish thoughts because sometimes what the eye doesn't see may be the answers to what the mind has already made foolish.
